Very true on the double dipping! And I have thought about that, but with me and the separation and 100% from the VA...I don't want to delay the severance and VA payments. Called this morning and the Chief said nothing yet, but possibly today, tomorrow, or Monday but it will happen any day. Said there is a decent chance the DOD rating changes from 20% since the VA rated me at 100% they are probably going to take a really hard look at adding another unfitting condition...not holding my breath but we will see soon.

I feel you!! I'm just making sure i set the stage before my departure so i can double back on this drive -by!!!!! Make sure i hit it all!!!!
 
selling leave/using leave is a individual decision, in my case I sold 50 and used 18, work was not "hostile", but I have no hope for employment physically right now. There is also the matter that you cannot be hired by DoD/fed service while still active even if on terminal, and many contractors voluntarily follow that rule as well, so using your 20 permissive to get affairs in order and "hitting the street" quicker may be more beneficial. understand the wide range of injuries and conditions people face one guy may be 100% due to several things and be able to seek employment, others may only be 60, but cannot work a lick ( like MS or fibro etc.) neither is "winning" or "cheating" the system, its just how the numbers fall. in my case I am currently 90% should be 100% once they fix a few glaring mistakes, and all ready on SSDI, i may be able to work in a year or 5 No body including the doctors knows for sure, but for my "security" selling that 50 days and paying off one more major bill made me feel a lot safer. others may not be in the same boat and choose different.

Yep that's why i said everyone's situation may be different. But with selling leave back, how many days do you have to have in a month to constitute a full month of BAH. So if i separate on the 10th of the month is that a full month bah or do i have to separate later like on the 28th or something? Is BAH pro-rated?
 
bah/bas are rated to the day based on 30 day months,.

so what exactly does that mean? If i separate 25 days into the month will i not get either?
 
you will get 25 days worth. and remember your final paycheck from AD will be held for a few weeks until after dfas performs an audit.
 
Well I am finally on terminal leave.

I want to thank everyone who has and continue to be helpful here.

I have helped some people and will continue to stick around and give help regarding my experience.

This experience was very stressful but I am glad I am finally on terminal leave. A big stress has been taken off my back.

not to scare ya, but just wait until ya start dealing with tricare on the outside :)

Have you had to use them while on terminal? One of my concerns is that I'm in pain management and will need to see a doc while on terminal but will not be in my current coverage area, how does one go about getting a referral with the closest military instillation 400 miles away?
 
I want to say that you would just need to call tricare, explain and you should be good...treat it like on leave. Or change your address when you go on terminal with tricare and then you should be good.
 
Well this has been a very long process for me and it still isn't over. Signed NARSUM in November. PEB found me unfit and forwarded to VA on December 12th. Mid March by ebennies moved to pending decision approval. Got the call for ratings on April 7th. Went and signed my findings that day and requested May 29th for retirement. Finally got a call on May 2nd that my orders were in. Went in to get them and found out that the Navy did not honor my request and instead gave me a retirement date of JULY 28th. So with PTDY and leave I still have to work 4 more weeks. I can't go home until 18 June. I just want to throw it out there that there are cases that go quick and smooth, but don't go into this expecting that. I did and the disappointment I feel is pretty bad. I try to look at the bright side - things like getting full pay for longer - but I wish I had not thought at the beginning that this would go quick. And I really wanna know why PERS pushed my date back freaking 2 months!
 
I don't know why they would push it back 2 months...that has to be extremely irritating. I hope that I don't have to deal with that when I sign mine here pretty soon. Just waiting on the call now. Then again, different service so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.
 
Yeah the Navy is picky. My PEBLO even told me that he thought my May 29th request would be approved. Then he said worst case scenario is they think I need more time so they push it back to June. I would have been fine with that. It's the 2 months that's throwing me. Now I'm stuck here for another month for no reason at all.
 
Yeah that's crap if you ask me. 2 months back is a bit ridiculous. I just got off the phone with my PEBLO and he said that my package says it is "QA Ready, Post VA." Been 2 weeks now from when I got my ratings. Any idea on when I might get the stuff so I can sign?
 
Any one on the Marine side here know how long it takes for your EAS to change on MOL? It is coing up to about two weeks since I signed my ratings.

My ratings came in on Thursday and i signed today..If our cases are still running side by side like it has been i would say expect it any day now..

I don't know exactly since I am a little behind you in the process, but what I have heard is 7-10 business days from when you send it back to the PEB...others just say keep checking MOL daily and have admin check 3270 but there won't be any kind of notification.

That's what I'm praying for...they did say it should be this week, but as everyone can attest it would be nice to have it happen sooner than later. Overall, I can't complain too much. The whole process has been basically 5 months right now for me. Much better than some, sorry for those that have dealt with the pains and irritation of the lengthy 1-2 year process. I've dealt with the surgeries and injuries for the past 6 years and fought to stay in back in 2010, but my time was up and my number got called this time and since January the process has been cooking for me.
 
I also signed mine today, final out June 16th/17th and my retirement date is October 29th. One thing I didn't know, I thought you had 30 days to outprocess from when you get your orders. At least at my base it's 30 days from when you sign for your ratings. I might not even have orders for another 2 weeks.
