Wait Time For Providence, RI

Just off the phone with HQ Marine Corps and spoke to the seps/retirement branch. Requested an EAS with them for June 29th so I can get the ball rolling. Said he should be able to help me out since I'm going to be selling back my leave anyways...I guess I will know soon/when he emails me back on the status.
Good to know man! I spoke with our Separations also and i'm just waiting for them to release the message would could take 3 weeks. It's already been 1 1/2 week with the holiday so no biggie, i have plenty to do while i'm waiting..

So I've been informed that my findings are complete by the VA but my PEBLO told me -
"Unfortunately there is no way for me to confirm this information because I don't receive notifications on the results of your medical board" in regards to me asking if she could verbally tell me what my findings were as the VA completed my ratings and sent them to the PEB last Tuesday. My lawyer told me to check eBenefits (Says "Pending Decision Approval" since last Wednesday) and maybe they're on there. They're both pretty useless. Can anyone shed some light as to what I can do? I am assuming I should see them by June 6th, but it sure would be nice to know ahead of time so I'm not shocked.

On one hand I'm trying not to piss anyone off but on the other I am so frustrated with how lazy these people are. I intend to file a complaint against my PEBLO once I'm out.

Your med lawyer and your peblo BOTH can see your "proposed" ratings at this time. They may lean on the side of caution and choose not to share them. (i don't know why when EVERYONE else does.) The PEB should have them under 2 weeks. However, it's your career and future so i wouldn't be concerned with pissing anyone off..

I always say, it's better to be pissed off, than pissed on...Kill with kindness and keep asking with a smile on your face.

I took your advice and made another call to my lawyer, he agreed to tell me the proposed ratings tomorrow over the phone. I am hoping to sign my ratings as soon as possible, I've got an AWESOME job opportunity - they're even offering to fly me there for my final interview. I'm hoping to sign by June 6th (10 Business Days), I read a considerable amount of this thread and know that you and Jdubs got yours in 7-8 business days and in conjunction with my leave I'm hoping to be out about 30 days after that... We'll see.

Did you get orders yet? I signed my ratings the same day as you but haven't gotten my orders yet. My PEBLO said that my 30 days for outprocessing started the day I signed my ratings but without orders I'm going to be left with a real short timeline. By the way what branch are you?

I'm kind of in the same boat as you, but I am about a week behind. No orders here, but according to admin all they need is an updated EAS in the system and they can make it happen for me. At least to the point of beginning the process to get out.

So once you sign your findings you should anticipate 30 days until you're out on terminal, even if you're waiting two of those 4 weeks for your EAS date?

I also wanted to thank you guys - I've been quietly reading this thread since January, your posts have helped immensely.

That's what I was told by my PEBLO and here's a cut and paste from the policy letter that she sent me, be advised that this only applies to AF. Under the first bullet labeled(2) it says the AF adds 30 days for processing of OCONUS and 20 days if CONUS. The way she explained it to me is if I bust the 30 days then I am burning my leave. The one thing that is contrary to what the memo states is that my PEBLO set my projected retirement date at 29 Oct which way over the proposed timeline below.

SUBJECT: Policy Guidance – Establishment of Separation or Retirement Date Last Week of the

Month Not to Exceed 90 Calendar Days.

Reference: AFI 36-3212, Physical Evaluation for Retention, Retirement, and Separation, Chapter 5, Paragraph 5.19

1. Purpose: To assist members with a smoother transition of benefits from active duty to Veterans Affairs by establishing separation/retirement dates within the last week of the month.

2. Background: Current policy requires members to sell any accrued leave up to 60 days. From date of case finalization, AF adds processing time of 20 days CONUS/30 days OCONUS, permissive TDY of 20 days CONUS/30 days OCONUS (subject to commander’s approval), plus any unsellable leave.

3. Procedures:

a. DPSDD will establish retirement/separation date by factoring in a maximum of 90 days from date case is finalized. The actual number of days from date of case finalization to date of separation (DOS) will be dependent on the following factors:

(1) Leave accrued during the 90 days will be included in the calculation. Any unsellable leave will be taken during the period prior to date of separation (DOS). If the amount of unsellable carries the member past the established date of DOS, adjustment of the DOS will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

(2) Separation/retirement date must fall within the last week of the month but not on the last day of the month.

(3) Dates not falling within the last week of the month will be rolled back to the last week of the previous month.

b. All appropriate updates to include but not limited to extensions on medical hold, extensions of system DOS/ETS, E53, and retirement/separation date will be accomplished by the appropriate offices to ensure all information flows correctly.

c. An interim change to AFI 36-3212 reflecting this new policy will be released.

4. This policy is effective immediately.

I'm Navy and Separating (not retirement). No orders yet. I tried calling and emailing PERS to see what the "exact" process was but there is like ONE lady in the Favorable Separations department and she took off today?? pffft...
anyhow, Monday June 9th will make 3 weeks since i signed my orders..i won't start a fire until the friday prior...( a week from today)

Found out today 0% DOD, 100% VA. Should sign my orders next week.
Holy crap! I thought my 20%/100% was crazy. Congrats on the findings though.

heck i would take 0% 100% anyway over what i got of 20/90!!! CONGRATS!!!!!

Yeah, I found it weird as well.

Here's how it was explained to me -
I was boarded for TBI. Apparently DOD views the symptoms of TBI SEPERATE from the TBI itself and because I wasn't boarded for my symptoms only for "TBI", so essentially they're using a loophole in regards to TBI.

The one thing I am am concerned about it employability and 100%VA. I would lose my mind if I can't work.

Well I'm 100% and I'll be able to work. As long as it's just 100% service connected then you are good. If you were say 60-70% but got paid as 100% under TDIU, then you wouldn't be allowed to seek/gain employment. Or you would lose the extra money. I think that's how the TDIU works though.

That's what I gathered about TDIU as well, but I highly doubt I'm TDIU. Won't know for certain until next week.

More than likely you aren't, just check the paperwork to make sure though.

Got the call from HQMC today. They received my findings back from the PEB and will be running my new EAS of July 30th today and it should be in the system tomorrow.

So my wait goes on for my orders. I called the Air Force Personnel Center last week to inquire and they told me I'd have them this week. Well I called back today to make sure they are on track and they told me possibly another 2 weeks. If that's the case it'll be over a month from the time I signed my ratings until I receive my orders. I did ask the lady if there was a timeline per the AFI(regulation) and she told me there was, 10 days. I then asked her if there was a division of the IG that oversaw them. Be aware this lady was only a telephone operator and not part of the medical disability section. She said she didn't know but then transferred me to another lady that ran the section, normally this isn't allowed I was told but my guess is the word "IG" makes ears perk up. I explained my case to her and she said she would be looking into it as soon as lunch was over. I understand they are undermanned and over tasked, but who in the government isn't. If you are going to publish a timeline that you are supposed to abide by, them I'm going to hold your feet to the fire. What's the worst that could happen?

Well at least you have a date now...I know we both requested June 30th, so i'm wondering if mine will be the same? I can tell the further the time goes along, the less chance i have of separating on the 30th. July is fine. I just want to make sure that from the day the orders hit i can start terminal since i'm practically done checking out. I have 40.5 days of leave and with 10 ptdy that can carry me till the end of July starting on the 9th of this month...
C'MMMOOOOOOON ORDERS!!!
