I called Al! He did give me my info.. Thank you for giving me this number! However, he informed me that my rating was increased from 0 - 20%, but no change will take effect! What to do next, I have no clue.. Any help?

I do not know what other options there are. You could always get ahold of the media and your Congress person's office to garner attention and see if they won't reconsider.
Will you get more severance pay with the increase?
Oh ok, I'll definitely be consulting with someone. Al told me that there is correspondence that tells what the next possible steps could be, but there will be no change in pay because severance pay is only based on time in service and not the actual rating unless its a 30% retirement rating.
I spoke with AL last week and mentioned that he doesn't see my case yet but he is the last stage and the Army may still have it in review.

If its a remote site like Roanoke VA!!!!! Call before and explain what your are trying to do, they will most likely have to call the DMCD Help desk to reactivate your account.

This is their standard reply so don't read into it.
Not saying mine was typical or atypical....but i got the notice you referrenced in Mar 2016. I subsequently got a letter from DOA saying they concured with the PDBR and I would be re-characterized to the Permanent Disabiled Retiremnt List 8/24/16. My orders came on 11/11/16.
I did talk to a Ms Nolan at the office in charge of notification a while ago, she said regardless of outcome all decissions are forwarded to the branch for notification. The yes or no answer came in the mail, it has yet to be posted anywhere so stop driving yourself crazy looking for it on the internet....

I know it was too soon but I talked to ms Nolan this morning and she told me that she wouldn't see my case unless it was approved but to try her back in a couple months if I didn't hear anything so seems like I'm at the waiting point still but thank you for the heads up seems like I will be waiting for most likely another 6 months
How long does it take for Dfas to set up a retirement account? Will I receive any back pay? I'm kind of confused.
A little history on my case. I got permanently retired @ 50% (non-combat related) through the PDBR in July 2016. I receive 50% from the VA(for the same condition) and my severance pay has already been recouped.
I've been out of the Army since May 2006.
Dfas said that they receive the "papers" from the Army September 2016. My RSO and a ID card issuers, told my wife and I, we could not get ID cards, PX privileges or tricare until the Dfas account was set-up.
Can anyone explain this?

The RSO has no idea what they are talking about. You just need your orders for ID cards and such. But take everything with you that you received in case they get confused, which they will.
It takes DFAS up to 60 days to set your account up. As far as back pay, each case is different. When did you start receiving VA compensation?
I begin receiving the full amount (after the recoupment) September 2007.
Depending on what your was/is determines if you receive any back pay. What you will do is subtract your VA compensation you received from the retirement you would have received. If the VA did not pay you as much as the retirement would have then you get the difference. If the VA paid you more the you most likely won't receive anything. There are always exceptions to the rule and you can find them on the DFAS website.
I would not worry too much about it. They move at their own pace. Hurry up and wait...and wait some more. haha

Hello everyone. I have been reading a lot of post here about the PDBR process. And let me tell you it has been hell. Mine just adjudicated as well to the Army. I can only imagine the wait I will have with them now...lol Hurry up and wait is there motto. From what I have gathered through everyone's experience and communications with certain people with their process, I hope to be as successful as those that have gone before me. I'm expecting about another year before I hear anything from them. I will, however, be calling Ms. Nolan or Al tomorrow to see if they might know anything. I am not sure how long ago my paper work was sent to the Army for final decision. Plus, I do not see my case on the boards.law.af.mil, so my assumption of the Army not completing my case is more than likely correct. Well, good luck to everyone and God Speed.

I'm more confused than ever. Doesn't Dfas and the VA exchange information about PBDR cases regularly?
I called dfas Cleveland and my account was set up, but they told me that my severance pay ( I initially received at discharge) was taken out of the back pay.
I told them I paid it back to the VA already. They told me I needed to get a letter from the VA stating its been recouped, then gave me a fax number and a London, KY (Dfas) address to send the information to.
Is this normal? Dfas and the VA are both acting as if they don't have a clue about the PDBR, like it hasn't been around for the last 8 years lol.
