What has been the average for orders?

They say give it 2 weeks. I called the PEB in Virginia and got an update on mine a week after I signed my 199.
Yeah I've heard of the 2-week rule, what i don't understand is, does this 90-day window to exit out the military start when you sign for your results or after they officially receive your signature? If it does start when you sign, what's the hold up??
I was told at Fort Polk that I will have 90 days to get out of the Army from the day my orders "hit the system" and it will NOT be the day I get the orders. I've got about 63 days in the bank and plan on taking another 20 PTDY so I plan on taking at least 83, and I was told as long as I can get my orders clear and get out of the Army by then.
I've been extended a few times and I don't know if that might change anything. One Soldier at Fort Polk said he wanted to use more leave but his extension wouldn't allow it and HRC wouldn't extend him again just to take leave.
These are great questions and very important. I know I'm counting on that leave and more importantly the pay checks I will get when I move out of housing.

Thank you Sir for sharing your information. It does help me and I hope it helps others going through the wondering process, so we can plan ahead somewhat.
How long have you been waiting for orders so far?
PTDY is a great possibility for people that don't know, for house or job hunting, if granted.
I think terminal leave will come in handy for a lot of us, especially those who can't get a job right away or just flat out are so broke mentally, physically or both, it's a good time to heal, finally relax and get some help from family or friends back home to help move forward.
The next hardest part is out-processing. Hopefully things can move smoother than the MEB process.

I got my separation message today and I have a NLT date of 29 April. I have 42 days of leave, I am trying to do my leave paperwork but don't know which way to go. Like what dates to use, is PTDY requested on the end of the leave dates or before? I am totally confused, and will transition talk to you without a DA31?
I hear you brother it ain't pretty on the AF side either, waiting seems like a decade.

I don't know how it is for the Green side, but in the Air force, you would need two separate leave forms, one for terminal leave and the other for PTDY.
The PTDY would be the active leave first, then after thats done the terminal leave kicks in. as far as dates im not great in math either, i would get some help from the S1 section and figure that one out w/ a professional.
Due to the fact you have to figure out how much leave your going to accrue while on "LEAVE", then factor those in to your over-all plan. That's the only part that sort of confuses me. We get 2.5 days of leave a month, I don't know how they would pro-rate something if we were to "RETIRE-OUT" at lets say the 23rd of the Month.
Also the last day of your leave should be the actual date your going to sep/retire out of service.
The amount of PTDY in my service you can request is 20 days CONUS/30 days OCONUS, for house/job hunting, this must be granted by the unit CC.

I know at Fort Hood once you get on the TRANSPOC roster and you get NLT date your done. You call transition, they make you an appointment and you speak with a case manager at transition. They tell you everything you need to do leave form, PTDY and out processing timeline. Depending on how much leave you have, you may not be able to take it all but not sure if that is true. Best of luck with your out processing.
You are very welcome, I know I've picked up tons of good information here, and the least I can do is share what I know.
I've been waiting for RATINGS for 130 days. If you are found unfit PTDY is going to be a must for your transition out of the Army, if approved by the BC. I think the leave will be a great time to transition, I won't get to relaxed; I've seen enough friends who are Veterans, stay relaxed and then become homeless. But it will give me time to find another source of income and get a new residence in order, which I've already got because my wife has taken the first step in our transition so when I do get my orders I've already got an address to mail my HHG to and I get up and out ASAP.
If you were given a NLT date then that include all the leave PLUS PTDY that you might have. If you have so much leave that it will take you past that date then you're selling it. Leave dates : date you a ABLE to leave duty (cleared, out processed, approved to go by CDR) until - as much leave as you have, or as much leave as you have taking you til 23 APR and then sell the rest, and this include PTDY. Here in the Army leave + PTDY is done on one DA FORM 31, who is going to come back off of transition leave to sign out of PTDY? Once you sign out you are out, but not officially until that leave form expires.
Yes, you are still in the Armed Forces, just on leave. The CDR might not think you're worth it since you're getting out and might just hand it over to local authorities, but they might also want to burn you at the stake. It's up to the CDR.
Yes...absolutely. We just had someone on terminal leave with a 60% rating from DOD and 100% from VA and he got busted with drugs by civilian police and is getting nailed by the command here on post and will be reduced to E1, forfeiture of pay, etc... I'm not too sure about the disability pay but I heard he could lose all of that too due to the discharge changing to dishonorable...OUCH!
