VARR Questions

Hello, everyone
I have just received my rating, 30% from VA
10% from DOD ( urticaria ). and the paper says in order to increase my rating by 30% for my urticaria, I have to meet the second line treatment, Which I have never received because of following by my on post docter’s retirement. I have been trying to make an appointment for 3month but the answer is always wait until the referral sets up and some one will call me. I have already discussed with an attorney however it still turns me to the same point. I was just told by my case manager that she is working on it and it seems even though they can find a referral the earliest one will be after 45days And I dont know how long is my peblo able to stretch the time since I haven’t signed my paper. does anyone happen to know what is going to happen if i failed to receive the second line treatment even though its not my fault ? worst case if I leave the military with whatever is here can I still request a reconsideration of rating increase ?

You could ask for a FPEB. This would allow you time to get the second line treatment. Do you have counsel? If not, get one. The service provides free counsel for the PEB process.

Thank you, its good to know about FPEB I will definitely have to discuss this with my peblo. Yes, my counselor said i have to get second line treatment in order to have 30%. the problem was just waiting on referral but if I can buy some times with FPEB that will be great. looks like it’s another waiting game.

Is this forum just for current Servicemembers, or Vets as well?
 
The forum is for anyone (including spouses) going through PEB/MEB/BCMR.....
 
Update and questions,
Me and my counselor decided request a reconsideration since I have new evidence that can prove I am receiving second line treatment. If its approved its 30% and if the treatment does not work its 60% but it takes 6month to complete the treatment. my plan is get the 30% as of right now and separate from the military then take my time to get the treatment and request another reconsideration after 12mo if the treatment doesn’t work. I was wondering if this plan is going to work ? since I am requesting a reconsideration now am I able to request another one after 12mo ? Or it has to be appeal. I just want to make sure the VA will still accept the case after 12month.

If you haven't already made your election, I offer the following: When you take the 30% and retire from the DoD, you are not be able to request a reconsideration. Your only recourse would be to either request a correction of your military records or seek a higher rating from the VA.
