Hi! We have applied for the caregiver program here in Atlanta twice and have been denied twice. We are appealing this second time. It seems like some VAs make is so easy to get approved and VAs in bigger cities deny left and right. I was wondering though if someone could tell me the pay for zip code 30062 just in case by the grace of God we do get approved. I have been trying to use the calculator for weeks with no luck. Thank you so much!

Ok, I need some advice. I have applied for this program and been denies 3 times now... Not sure what I am doing wrong. My husband (just got out last year) suffers from a TBI, PTSD, anxiety, memory loss, etc... They keep telling me I do not qualify because he is capable of caring for himself... Twice this week, I have had to turn the burner on the stove off because he forgot.... He is surely capable of caring for himself.... and burning my house down! I know he's not completely dependent upon me by any means, but I have to do his cooking, laundry, cleaning the house, etc. as well as manage the finances and help with his meds and appointments. I do not understand how they keep rejecting us.... Any help would be great. Thanks!
Thanks... This is all in his medical records and he goes to VA appointments every week so it's not like they aren't aware... i'll see if we can get them to help out, though....
Hmm, out of curiosity, have you had any success with getting an approval for the DoVA Caregiver Program at this particular point in time?

Update for anyone interested:

We received a HIPPA compliant voicemail telephone call from our assigned DoVA Caregiver Support Outreach RN stating the need for scheduling of an Annual in-home visit to determine if my (the veteran’s) condition still meets the criteria for the program or if my (the veteran’s) condition has improved to where VA caregiver services are no longer needed.

In retrospect, since the VA Caregiver Support Program is a "temporary" monetary stipend federal assistance program which require quarterly Primary Family Caregiver case reviews to include an annual eligibility (medical) evaluation for the veteran, lets see if I am/we are included in the next round of VA statistics for termination of VA caregiver services/benefits seemingly via the "one year and done" on-going VA trend.

As such, definitely more to follow soon upon the conclusion of the aforementioned DoVA Caregiver Support Program's annual requirement!

How did the re-eval go?

How did the re-eval go?
Indeed, thanks for the reminder for sure! ;)

Well, we were informed by our assigned DoVA Caregiver Support Outreach RN that her "CAREGIVER PROGRAM ANNUAL IN-HOME MONITORING ASSESSMENT" is totally separate from our DoVA Caregiver Support Coordinator's request to the assigned DoVA Caregiver examination clinician to perform the annual eligibility (medical) evaluation for the veteran (e.g., me). As such, both annual evaluations are a requirement for potential continuation within the DoVA Family Caregiver Support Program.

In reference to the DoVA Caregiver Support Outreach RN's annual in-home evaluation which was scheduled on 11 Dec 15, we believe it went favorably well in that the need for "continued" VA Family Caregiver Support is still very evidently apparent; therefore, continuely required at either the Tier level 2 (current assessment) or an increase to Tier level 3 albeit definitely not a lower Tier level 1.

At this point in time, we are still awaiting the scheduling of the DoVA Caregiver examination clinician to perform the annual eligibility (medical) evaluation for the veteran (e.g., me). So, the verdict is still not available about our potential overall continuation to receive any DoVA family caregiver support services and benefits.

To that extent, there's definitely more to follow soon upon the conclusion of the aforementioned DoVA Family Caregiver Support Program's annual requirement! Take care!
