I'm happy to report I found out that i was rated 100 % by the VA by my PEB rep. The only thing is he didn't say anything about the DOD rating. Should I be concerned? I have to wait until the paperwork comes in to sign it and see the rest but I'm nervous about the DOD rating or shouldn't I be? Don't you get paid for both and doesn't the DOD rating determine if I'm fully medically retired or not? Its strange for them to email one rating right?

DoD pay isn't a factor in the majority of cases, as most do not qualify for concurrent receipt. I imagine the PEBLO just emailed what he thought was important, most do not email ratings. You will get a full break down when you go sign.

When you go to the PEBLO, they will have your DoD broken down for you with the overall percentage.
You do NOT have to agree with the DoD rating for 10 days.
So take your time, think it over, and read your 199 over and over very carefully before you accept it.
Post a new thread when you get your 199 and let us know if you have ANY questions.
But you don't have to agree with it right off the bat with the PEBLO and accept their finding.
You have up to 10 days to agree/disagree & ask for a FPEB if you discover your 199 isn't correct.

If you are happy with your 199, and you return the 199 within 10 days of initial receipt of 199 with your acceptance signature, then you'll usually have less than 100 days to go before you are discharged.
But do post a new thread if you have ANY questions or doubts about your 199 and it's percentage, injuries that were rated (or missing and not rated) or anything else.
You have 10 days to sign your 199 with an agree, or a disagree & request a formal PEB (FPEB).
Go to Jag and have them look at it, too.
If you have combat or combat-related injuries, make sure that is notated on your 199 (the "V" codes).

A 100% VA rating doesn't impact your DoD retirement numbers (at least on the ratings face....but, there are arguments that the DoD should apply a total rating of 100% should it not have done so based on 100% VA rating or if you are unable "unemployable"...this finding is exceeding rare from DoD).
You need to see what the DoD rating is- 30% or more based on DoD disability rating nets a retirement finding.
In order to receive a temporary or permanent disability retirement from the military (called TDRL or PDRL), you need to be rated by the military at 30% or greater.
The military rates only the unfit conditions that will keep you from maintaining a fit status for military service.
The VA rates all service connected conditions - whether adjudged fit or unfit by the military for further military service.
In most cases, the VA rating will be higher than your military rating.
I've seen many cases on this site where the SM received 30%, 40%, or 50% military rating, but received a 70%, 80%, 90% or even a 100% VA rating.
I received a 70% military rating and was placed on PDRL, and my VA rating came out to 100% P&T.
I was also awarded SSDI before my IDES (VA/DoD) ratings ever got to me - got SSDI before I even got to my C&Ps.
If you receive your 199 and the military rates you at 30% or greater, then you will be military retired to the temporary or permanent disability retired List (TDRL or PDRL) - as stated on your 199.

did you receive a severance pay? So the 199 is the form I'm waiting to sign. I applied for SSDI and I'm waiting on a reponse.
I rec'd 70% PDRL and 100% VA from IDES process.
I was also approved for and in receipt of SSDI 2 or 3 months prior to my IDES C&P exams.

Yes I understand that people say that got severance pay as well.
When you go thru IDES and are found unfit for further military service, if your total military disability percentage is 30% or greater, you are retired (if not approved a "waiver" under COAD).
Any total military rating under 30%, you are given severance.
Can't have both.
You can get severance and VA, or retirement and VA - but not severance and military retirement and VA.
For 90+% of SMs going thru IDES, it's generally to the injured SMs financial advantage (over their lifetime) to go out under retirement discharge as they will have medical under TriCare. Plus, they get 100% entitlement to GI Bill.

Ok now I'm confused. I was told be my PEB that I got a rating of 100 and the letter was sent for me to sign to their office. It's been over two weeks and now I called the PEB office they still haven't received it. So I called the VA office and they said it hadn't been finalized yet. What do that mean. I already have a VA rating? I thought it was suppose to be sent with the DOD rating included. Please help. I'm confused
I think you and I are right around the same stage in the PEB process. In my case, my proposed VA ratings are complete and have been forwarded back to the PEB, however I am still awaiting their adjudication of my findings. Although your PEBLO can check your ratings in VTA, he/she has to recieve the PEB's findings before you can go in and sign your 199. When the VA is saying they haven't finalized your case, they are correct (it will not be until you submit your DD214 that they can close your claim). A more appropriate question to ask the VA is whether or not DRAS has submitted their proposal back to the PEB.
So what is the DRAS? I'm confused because it's been more than two weeks since I got an VA Rating. How long does it take to come in. I was told two weeks.
My 199 took 14 days after my proposed VA ratings.
DRAS is the VA's Disability Rating Active Site. They are the ones who will apply the VASRD against your medical records/exams in order to determine your ratings. It's been about 2 weeks for me as well since I was notified that the VA rating proposal was complete. My PEBLO told me from that point it could take anywhere from a week to a month before she'll have my 199 ready for my review. Should be any day for both of us.
You won't know your DoD ratings and your VA ratings for sure until your PEBLO contacts you and tells you your 199 is ready for review.
That's how it works most of the time.
If this were me, I wouldn't put much stock into what anyone says until I get a hard copy of the 199 from my PEBLO.
What issues are you getting rated on?

And I might add - just for you to ponder on - that you are NOT required to agree or disagree with your 199 at time of your first 199 appointment/199 review with your PEBLO. You are NOT required to agree or disagree with them at that time!
So take your time! You have 10 days to agree or disagree with the results.
Sure. Read them over with the PEBLO, but take it home and over the next few days, read them over very carefully.

My PEBLO was the person we called and told me it was completed on 10FEB2015 and what my VA rating was. Of course he couldnt see the DOD because it's in the findings paperwork. So I do put stock in what he said about my VA rating. I'm just not understanding why it's taking so long. I'm just concerned. I thought my findings would of been back by now. I don't want to keep calling and asking them and then they get mad.
An example of not putting stock in your proposed VA rating at this stage would be that the PEB could decide that the VA made an error. In this case, they could send your package back to DRAS for correction. This could potentially change the % either up or down, different from you've been told as of now.
For all: Can anyone confirm that both VA and DOD ratings post in VTA? I know that the VA % does, but not sure about DOD. I seem to recall another thread where someone's PEBLO was able to see both proposed ratings about a week prior to the 199 being created.
