Thanks, yea we have and are very similar, I think the thing that makes me so nervous is my PEBLO isn't very good and doesn't communicate well, I do my best to stay in contact with him, every week I just send a checking in status to him, he generally doesn't reply and sometimes he does. It's hard the waiting game, I am generally patient I just am not in the greatest of places (where I work and who I work with) so honest to goodness, everyday is a struggle to want to walk through the door, but I do it anyways because I try to remember that I am better than this place and these people, the sooner I am out of here the better, trying to keep my head up.

Indeed at this point, it's only a matter of time; you are very strong and you can do it for your family! ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Hmm interesting; it's subjectively probable while dependent upon others in a duplicative transition that may comprehend a similar point-of-view! ;)

Yeah, what you said-:)!

I was hoping to get lucky and receive my 199 today but no call so hopefully Monday. To everyone still waiting on ratings just hang in there. I was waiting on ratings since Feb 21, 2013 until Saturday August 17, 2013 my status changed finally on ebenefits and from there everything went quick.
Also I don't know if this had anything to do with me receiving results when I did but about 3-4 weeks ago I called the IDES/MEB Supervisor (civilian) and she sent a email to someone that works in the VA and then that lady said she was sending an email to DRAS to F/U on my case. I know this because I was CC'd in the email. One week later I was movement on my case. I don't know if it was just a coincidence or whether the email pushed it. Just wanted to share my 2 cents. Patience is a virtue.

Well, it seems that the potential correspondence did not to have any unfavorable processing influences with your DoD IDES case file as based upon your information in my opinion; that's a good thing! :)

Indeed, I believe positive thinking can potentially yield positive results within controllable situations; it's healthier to be in a good positive mood than always in a bad negative mood at least in my opinion. ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Unfortunately, not all active duty cases showed any status changes or updates. I can't even get a timely response to my IRIS inquiry. Sigh.
Hello, I did an IRIS inquiry, took almost 2 weeks for a response.

My Iris is 2 weeks old tomorrow. I got a call from my PEBLO Friday - he said don't get excited - there is no news. I also sent my authorization in to DAV Friday. I figure with enough eyes, I may accidentally find out something!!

Hi all. Just wanted to engage in the convo here. I'm up at Joint Base Lewis McChord. Just got my MEB appeal back with a big "sorry, but no" as a response, so my packet was sent to the PEB today. My Peblo said it should take roughly 2 weeks to get my fit/unfit rating, and then the standard 120 days for ratings and what not. Guess the waiting game starts.

I do have a question, though. When I got my initial MEB brief the Peblo who gave the brief said that the VA had a new system where cases with just a few conditions were separated from the more complicated ones and expedited. He claimed that he just had a SM get his rating back in 27 days. Now MY Peblo can't answer whether that is true or not, so I was wondering if anyone else had heard of this. Judging by what I've read on here, that's probably a no.

I only have 1 failing condition and then 4 other conditions, all related to the gunshot wound I sustained to my knee last August in Afghanistan and subsequent bone infection later on. Anyway, here is my timeline:

Dec 2012: P3 profile issued
Jan 2013: MEB initiated
Feb 2013: MEB stopped due to bone infection and subsequent surgeries
20 May 2013: MEB restarted
11 June 2013: VA QTC Appointment
26 July 2013: NARSUM complete
8 Aug 2013: Appeal submitted
27 Aug 2013: Appeal returned (no soup for you!)
28 Aug 2013: Packet Forwarded to PEB

I have not heard of such a "new system". But then again, I have been retired since 27 MAY. But, if it does exist, that would be wonderful, highly unlikely-but wonderful!

When i visited my RO in winston-salem few months ago i was told by a AW2 rep that Seattle was using a new system thats why most IDES claims was sent their, but im not sure how accurate that is now

Also even though timelines used on this forum can give you an idea of wait times, users on here only makes up a very small % of IDES claims so if your PEBLO said he got a SM ratings back in 27 days thats very much possible

120 days sounds accurate! could be shorter and could be longer!!

DEPENDS ON THE VA'S PENDING WORKLOAD (in my 1800# rep voice) lol

I just got my VA claim closed today.....still at same percentage of proposed ratings but I am waiting for a total breakdown to be certain of what was calculated ext....My claim is out of Seattle I had my MEB/PEB through JBLM....

timeline in signature....hopefully everyone else will see some movement....

Wow! Indeed; now, this statement should qualify for the "America's most dumbest comment" award!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer.”

Congrats! Did you have an estimated completion date for your claim, if so, what was it? What was the status of your claim before it closed, was it Preparation for Decision? I retired 2 weeks after you, so I am hoping that maybe my claim is less than 2 weeks away.

Good deal! Congratulations! :D

To that extent, have you checked your eBenefits account to download your DoVA Verification of Benefits letter?

Someone posted on the forum (possibly in this thread) a memorandum detailing the average wait times for initial ratings (active duty) at 91 or so days. I'll see if I can find it. If they are getting less complex cases out of the way or whatever that is exciting for me, 3 conditions PTSD and each shoulder. My unfit memo was dated 15 July we'll see what happens!

This is what another member posted earlier in this thread (page 133 I believe):

The IDES SL is partnering with PDA/G1 to work with the Seattle DRAS to maximize the efforts there to deal with their backlog of cases. It is critical that communication with the Soldiers going through the MEB process be clear that this backlog exists and that we are unable to give them a definite expectation of when their preliminary rating will be completed.
--DRAS STATUS--
Currently the VA is averaging 91 days to process a preliminary rating for aSoldier in the IDES process (the standard is 15 days). The oldest cases are over 300 days in the preliminary rating process. The Army has sent 20 Soldiers to assist in preparation of cases at the Seattle DRAS in order to try to expedite the process. However, timelines have not yet begun to improve.
The VA currently has to rate every case twice (Preliminary Rating during the PEB phase and final Benefits rating after the Soldier has separated). They are currently focusing on the Benefits rating in order to reduce the time it takes for a Veteran to be able to receive compensation once they have retired. The standard for this rating is 30 days and the average is currently 97 days. Thus, it is a priority that Veterans that have already separated from the Army receive their checks as soon as possible. This focus on reducing the backlog on benefits has caused an increase in time to receive preliminary ratings. The Army Medical Department is committed to working with VA and Soldiers to improve processing and make this challenging transition as transparent as possible. The challenge remains that we are not yet able to predict when a Soldier will receive their preliminary ratings from the VA."

So I am at 142 days waiting for for ratings. My IRIS inqiry came back after over two weeks, telling me I am in the IDES process, summarizing the process, and telling me nothing about my question - the status of the claim. I saw my PEBLO yesterday, and his only response was he had several that were waiting over 200 days.

Someone mentioned in an earlier post "I'm waiting as fast as I can". Yep.

I hope that some of you who have recently been found unfit have a quicker time.
Wish I had better news.
Bob

Can someone please give slightly GOOD NEWS about Seattle? I know we have to be realistic and face the facts but come onnnnn!! LOL

Well when I went through IDES my proposed rating came back in a couple months and it was during holidays time!!!!

Sure, the "DoVA D-RAS in Seattle, WA shall continue to expeditiously process all DoD IDES disability claims until the backlog has completely terminated!"

Hmm, that sounds like verbiage the IRIS inquiry and the 1-800# representatives would give upon any contact with them! ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!
