Hello all, long time no talk.

Ive got a couple questions. Ive completed my terminal leave and am now officially medically retired as of Aug 22nd. My final ratings still are not complete. My Ebenefits still says, "gathering of evidence". My questions are:

What are the averages you guys are seeing for finalized ratings to be complete after separation date? And I believe I know the answer to this question, but I just want someone to confirm it. But while im waiting for my VA pay to come in, I will start receiving my disability percentage from the DOD correct?

I retired Aug 22nd. So I think October 1st I should see my first retirement check.

Thanks for the help.

Hey man long time!, I retired june 27th and i got partial retirement check on july 1st like 100 bucks. Now I get my 50% first of each month and have got it 3 times so far.
Good news on my part now, my ebennies was closed for my main claim. A new one was opened after my retirement date on june 28th. I have 2 closed claims now. Guess I should be getting my final ratings now in the mail.

7 months sounds great, thanks for the info.
Later
G
mine was 6 months and 1 day total, with 4 unfitting and 10 other claims.

Got my official ratings in the mail today! Still @ 100% PT, retro pay deposited in my bank account today as well

Whats up man, long time no talk for sure.. Thanks for the info. I actually got a partial pay today and I imagine starting Oct 1st they'll start sending me the checks as normal.

Glad to see all finished well for you! What do you mean by retro pay? What is that pay made up of?

Well, I got tired of looking at "Pending Decision, Evidence requested is past due" via ebenefits so I called the VA's 1800 number and when I got a hold of someone they asked when my date of discharge was as they need my DD214. Told them I was still in going through a MEB. But that was all she could tell me.

Possible movement on the case?

Indeed, anything's possible; I hope for the best at this point! ;)

Update from me...

Timeline: (15 yrs total = 12 active + 3 Reserve)
Dec 2010 - Injured on active duty
Sep 2011 – May 2012 Treatment
JUN 2012 – Permanent Profile – MEB initiated
Aug 2012 – PCS Orders from Germany to WTB Ft. Knox
SEP 2012 – PCS’d from Germany to Ft. Knox (1 day with family)
Oct 31, 2012 – VA Claims process started
FEB 2013 - C&P exams
MAR 2013 – MEB
MAR 2013 - Signed NARSUM
APR 3, 2013 - PEB unfit memo sent to VA Seattle for ratings (6 x medically unacceptable – 24 other conditions)
JUL 24, 2013 - eBenefits Gathering Evidence completed
SEP 3, 2013 - eBenefits Prep for Decision Completed
4 SEP 2013 - Pending Decision Approval
7 SEP 2013 - Complete "Your claim is complete. A letter will be sent to you via U.S. mail formally documenting the completion of your claim. Please allow standard delivery time prior to contacting the VA call center."

However, a bit concerned that on my eBenefits it stated that they requested and did not receive either a VA exam for my TBI or PTSD claim. A) I know both were sent up in the original claim and B) this is the first I have heard of this. And it is saying they requested it FROM ME! I have been in constant contact with my PEBLO and she never mentioned needing any more documentation. I will see Monday if it was a typo, or what. I know eBenefits isn't the most straightforward when giving info. Has anyone had this experience?

So even though the DOD is paying you retirement while you wait, the VA still back dates and pays it back?

Yes, if your VA pay is higher than DOD, the VA backpays the difference

For example my VA pay is 4135$ and my Retirement is 1456 before taxes, so the VA paid me the difference from May 1st till September 1st

LuckyBuck25,

would you mind posting your timeline? if you have already please kindly disregard. Thanks!

I apologize for the delay. I couldn't remember my password, or the site say's that its incorrect but wouldn't allow me to reset it via email. I log on to my computer instead of work and apparently I maintained a log in status since last time on here.

The following timeline is based on E-Profile, is it accurate? I'm not certain, a few things conflict with ako meb/peb tab:

Date of Physician's Notification - Jan 1 (Sounds strange)
Date of DA 3349 - Jan 4
Date Physician Dictated MEB Summary - Feb. 3
Date Patient Signed MEB - Feb 12
Appeal - Feb 13
Date MEB Pending Treatment - Feb. 18
Date MEB forwarded to PEB - Feb. 19
Date PEB Received Packet - Mar 2
Date Case Forwarded to PDA - Apr. 1 (I believe this is when sent to Seattle)
Date PEBLO called with the ratings proposal - Sep. 7

I meet with her on Monday to discuss the 199

Received a phone call to meet with PEBLO regarding my ratings being available. I meet with her Monday at 1400, she told me that my ratings came back 10/80. The 80 is what I expected but 10% DOD for my back was a shocker. I have a strong feeling I know why, though. When I visited the VA in Temple, she had me conduct the flexibility test, I asked her if I should go until it hurts or as far as I possibly can go. She told me to push through the pain, so I did. At the time I was unaware of how the ratings were determined, I didn't join this site until after the fact. When determining your ratings, pain isn't necessarily a factor, I live with pain every single day but pain is subjective...

Anyway, I have a question. Does it really matter if my back was rated 10% or 20% for unfit? I know 30% changes a lot of things around.

My Seattle timeline was met right at the 120 day mark. No kidding, my VA liaison called me on day 120 to tell me that my PEBLO will call me soon. From the time Seattle sent them to PEB and receive my 199 was around 3 weeks.

From my experiences within the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process, the immediate response is that it depends in my opinion.

For a more specific response, the DoVA rating assigned to an adopted DoD PEB-referred unfitting condition rating could potentially produce either disability severance pay or disability retirement pay.

To that extent, there is no difference between a 0%, 10%, or 20% rating in the calculation of the amount of severance pay received. The rating is not a factor in determining severance pay.

Conversely, disability retirement pay is calculated on the basis of your actual disability rating (e.g., 30% rating and higher) or length of service rating (e.g., 2.5% times years of service), whichever is higher. Remember that the disability rating percentage is capped at 75% albeit the length of service rating no longer has the 75% cap.

With that all said, military service members placed on the TDRL will have their retired pay calculated using a minimum of 50% even if their combined rating was less than 50%. If a military service member receives separation or retired pay by reason of a combat-related injury, then the IRS shall consider the pay as non-taxable income.

Well I have my clearing papers as of today. Now just awaiting my appt for clearance papers.
how long did it take to get your orders or did you get them the same day as your clearing papers cause im trying to get my stuff shipped and I need orders

@Superdude23 It depends on when your NLT date is and how long it takes your orders to get approved. I received my orders 2 days later. On I signed my 199 on 29 August. On the same day I went to Transition/Retirement Services for a retirement date which wasn't in the system until that next week 4 September (due to holiday I assume). My date that was in the system was for 2 December but my counselor said I would need it changed due that I only had 35 leave days plus 20 PTDY totaling 55.

So I had to take a form to Commander to sign to request the date my counselor gave me which was now 21 November. The same day I had it signed and took it back and my orders were ready the next day which was 5 September.

I called the VA today and they told me it could take up to 15 months :(

Hmm, that sounds like a non-DoD IDES disability process claims file (e.g., a military veteran's DoVA disability claim).

To that extent, did the VA representative happen to mention that you are in the DoD IDES process; just curious?

120 days today since I received my unfit letter. My peblo never updates me with anything. My ebenefits still says " documents requested past due".. It has said that since May. What is the best way to check on my case? My peblo is saying I probably will not see anything for another 100 to 130 days. I honestly think she if full of shi$
