Hi, I have been on here quite a few times searching the forums for all kinds of questions and have founds lots of answers. I am in the Air Force and I am being meb'd for l4/l5 petruding/bulging disc in my back. It all happened in July 2012. I have already been through my c&p exams and just signed my NARSUM yesterday. My peblo said my paperwork got sent up to IPEB yesterday as well. My question is, I know it's not a guaranteed thing, but what do you guys think. Since it has already went through once and found unfit at the small board and is being sent up a second time will it be found unfit? or will I be sent back to duty with a code. Any comments would be appreciated, thanks.

There is no way to tell if you will be found fit/unfit but the chances are you will be found unfit since the majority of cases that go to the IPEB are found unfit especially since the AF started the I-RILO process... The AF won't tell you when and if you are found unfit so you will know when you get your AF Form 356 back from your PEBLO. I hope your process is a lot smoother than mine was and I say this because my package was sent to AFPC on 27 Mar 2013 and I am still waiting.

Thanks for the reply! It says on your sig that you were found unfit in Aug but you are still waiting? I don't understand, with the Form 356, if you have been found unfit, are you still just waiting on your ratings? I have looked on the forums and a lot of people are getting their fit/unfit decisions in the same month they signed their NARSUM. Although, my PEBLO told me it may take 3 to 4 months to get back..did she mean the ratings and everything? I can wait on the ratings I just want to know the decision if they are keeping me in or not.
I haven't received my 356 but I was able to find out I was found unfit. The IPEB forgot to tell the VA I was unfit so they could start my proposed ratings. If they are keeping you in you will know sooner than if they are sending you out.
How did you go about finding out that you were unfit? Did you check ebenefits (I don't know much about it, I haven't signed up yet) or did your PEBLO inform you?
My PEBLO wouldn't tell me anything and still continues not to. I found out from my Recovery Care Coordinator (RCC). My PEBLO told me he had tried to contact AFPC a number of times and they wouldn't call or email him back. Just click on link to view the thread I started a while back...

That sucks man, you've had to go through a lot of hoops. Anyone else have an input? Also, if anything gets updated in ebenefits it means I was found unfit correct? Otherwise why would they send it to the VA?
I have jumped through way too many hoops and I am just too tired to jump through anymore...

first the PEB found me unfit on Oct 7, which was a week after they recieved it, then it went to the VA and I am still waiting on a rating. The only way I knew that I was unfit is because my PEBLO called me and let me know.
Now with the fit/unfit part I really doubt they would have put you through all of this if you were just going to get rejected, that is my opinion not anything factual.
Now with the ebenefits part it does not state anything about PEB findings, or fit/unfit. The PEB is run by the military not the VA, and ebenefits only reflects the VA portion. Now with that being said I would start an account as soon as you can. Its great to have it and look where you are at and also I have been told it will reflect your VA ratings before your PEBLO even gets them. That will at least give you some idea of where you stand before you PEBLO finds out.

Hey, thanks for the reply dapatsRIll, are you Air Force? I have seen on here where the Air Force peblo will not inform you of being found fit or unfit until the very end... I did make an ebenefits act and have been checking it daily lol.
No im in the marine corp which means the navy handles my PEB and MEB parts so I can't help you with that part but it seems ridiculous to me they wouldn't tell you so you could actually begin to start planning your future so dig a little deeper on that issue

How long should I wait before I start calling the VA? My PEBLO just sent my full MEB package about 2 weeks ago, and is there a certain number to call at the VA? Thanks
Thanks! Looking back at it, it looks like it was about a week and a half actually, but I'll def call tom and see if I can find out. I'm guessing I will just straight up ask if I have been found fit or unfit? I have a feeling they will not know what I'm talking about lol.
Wow, so I just called the VA, went through all of those menus and then it says due to high call volume I'll have to call back. I'm surprised you can't wait on hold..
yeah i called like five times last week and the same thing happened, I've been on hold for 45 minutes right now and it initially said it would take 25 mins.
I was told it would take 90 days and not to call them until after the 90 day mark. i sure hope this isn't the case, my husband has orders and I really need to be with him (due to my health) i'm almost 100% sure i will be found unfit. my med started back in April, they just sent out my package last week. they said the reason they missed the 30 day mark was because of the furlow (sp?), i'm not really sure how much longer i have now, i'm so confused. they say estimated will be March. but it seems, look at others timelines, that I should be out quicker than that. Im really happy to read that it only took about two weeks for a decision for unfit/fit!
So I got ahold of the VA, took 45 min like said earlier.. the VA guy said my package is in Providence Rhode Island, and my ebenefits says "review of evidence"..is this a safe bet to say unfit?
Yea, I like that it takes two weeks but I still haven't found out yet so we will see.
