Psychologist wont provide NARSUM for XX amount of months?

8 years AD here. I'm currently diagnosed with PTSD, major depressive disorder and mixed anxiety, along with a laundry list of other conditions. At a recent appointment with my PCM he let me know that my MH diagnoses does not meet retention standards and he is initiating an MEB on me. However, when he contacted my psychologist, they told him that they wont be providing a NARSUM until I complete a second round of treatment protocol (3-4 months).
I've been going to MH twice a week for 6 months now and nothing has improved. I've lost my clearance and can no longer perform any of my job duties because my job always requires a SCIF.

Can MH just drag their feet on this and refuse to write a NARSUM for an already disqualifying condition just for the sake of "trying one more thing?". I understand the MEB process can take 6-12 months on average, and this will most likely put me at over 12 months of waiting while my mental health continues to decline.
Any advice?

The answer is "yes". Also you are talking about pre-IDES. You will get commander's impact statement and then NARSUM. Then they kick it up to see if they are going to do a full MEB and if the answer is yes then they assign you a PEBLO & MSC. Then its off to C&P exams. Then MEB with NARSUM again which gets routed to the PEB to see if they find those conditions Fit for Duty or Not. It's a long bumpy ride especially for those with MH issues. I would continue treatment and keep your leadership updated so they can work with you around your limitations which may be many.

Absolutely they can non-concur with the timing of a MH based MEB. Treatment precedes an MEB. Any doc worth his/her salt would try another round of treatment. A lifetime of MH issues is no fun. So a second round of treatment is the right course.

When you are saying MH treatment did you take the antidepressants which make you worse?

I've been on 3 different medications now, Celexa, Effexor, and now Zoloft. No improvements.
Have been through a 6 month CPT treatment and a concurrent group therapy treatment.
My symptoms have continued to decline just because of the nature of my PTSD. My PCM agreed it would benefit me to get out of the Air Force and pursue VA treatment but my MH wants to try a "different" type of non-medication therapy.

Commander already wrote a "do not retain" statement. Unfortunately I'm stuck taking the trash out essentially until I am discharged as I lost my TS/SCI from the MH diagnoses.

Follow-up, since my PCM pushed my file to the AMRO, they already found my conditions unfit for duty and directed an IRILO. Mental health has 14 days to provide a NARSUM and cannot delay any further.

Awesome!

Any update? I’m currently going through the same thing
