"Pending decision approval"

Ok guys, so I called my peblo again today. Still no fit or unfit yet however, she did say that now she is getting back findings for packages mailed off in November. Mine is December so should be back within a few weeks or a month. At least it's some kind of info smh

That's good because my package was accepted 5 Nov. But them again I just learned that my PEBLO has been out a week due to family emergency so yeah backlogged at the finish line

As far as I understand, your overall claim stays that way until they receive your DD-214. Basically you cannot receive benefits from the VA until you are discharged. This is also why they tend to retire you in the last 3 days of the month, because the VA cannot provide benefits until one full month has passed since your discharge from the service.
Also, the historical claim I believe is specific to the PEB package, so the letter that is sent is actually sent to the PEB with the ratings for the disqualifying conditions.

Thank you! That was a big "what's next" question I had and couldn't seem to get answers too. The way the supervisor at the VA was saying was that they only did my proposed ratings and they hadn't even given a final decision. I didn't know if that meant they hadn't been sent to the PEB for their decision or not so a BIG thank you for reply!

@NAVYMA1 that is terrible! not sure if the Navy's MEB system is any different but that seems way over the timeline. When you say your packet was mailed off in Nov, do you mean you signed your NARSUM and your file was sent to the VA for ratings? I thought the limit was within 10-13 days after the VA receives your packet that the PEB is supposed to declare you fit or unfit, send the memo to your PEBLO and the VA, than once the VA receives that they start your ratings.

Not that I'm aware of, but I need to go through the instruction thoroughly. I am starting to wonder if they even have to follow timelines at all.

My EBenefits hasn't changed for quite some time, it still says under review. My timeline is below, can anybody shed some light on how long a package stays in Pre-VA QA, what exactly does that mean? Also when will my ebenefits change? I seem to be at a stand still!!!

@Gunner1210 Have you been told you are fit or unfit yet? If your package was accepted by the PEB Feb 12th then your timeline looks about right and they are still making that determination. The average for all of us at the PEB stage is 3 months and then they send it to the VA only if you're found unfit.

No I have not gotten a official unfit memo, I am just being told by several that "your were found unfit because it's pre-VA!" Based on average when should I expect to hear something regarding an official unfit and ratings?

Youre at 2 months pretty much right now so my best guesstimate is between 2-4 weeks from now. Was 2.5 for myself. You really never know in this crazy ass process though. That's what I would bank on though.

Yea no real way to know. My 3 month mark was on Mar 22. I'm hoping to get my fit/unfit back any week now. It's almost best to just forget it for a bit. Plan for getting out as much as possible and wait it out. Some days I've been more successful than others in doing so lol.

When should I start seeing changes from Ebenfits, its still saying "under review"

You won't see a change in Ebenefits until the VA has rated your conditions and sent it back to the PEB. Looks something like this;

MEB conducted with phsyicians
MEB package sent to PEB
PEB makes fit/unfit determination (could take up to 3 months or more, could be less)
If found FIT for duty, you are returned to full duty and everything ceases
If found UNFIT for duty, PEB send package to VA for ratings
Once VA determines ratings, VA sends back to PEB for approval (this is when Ebenefits changes where you have one historical claim saying which date the ratings were sent back to the PEB)
PEB finalizes the claim and sends to your PEBLO who calls you to either sign or appeal

Hope this helps clarify some of the process.

@Gunner1210 I never got an official unfit memo, just so happened that when I called my PEBLO about a month after my packet was sent off that he said they already found me unfit. As for the ratings my 2 month was March 21, the VA closed my case on March 4 so I should hear back from the PEB in the next month or so. You're about right on time with me as far as timeline goes. Mine is below if it helps a little.

I checked ebenefits today and another claim was opened as of today and when I clicked on it and it looked like this

Date Submitted: 29MAR16
Estimated Completion: 06AUG16 - 25SEP16
Disability claimed: IDES
Current Status: Under Review

Does this mean they received my package? Now I am even more confused...

Yep you're unfit. The VA is rating it as of yesterday. When it has a completed date and says "Decision Notification Sent" that means they have sent it back to the PEB. That should be in about two weeks or so.

Wow that was fast. I'm jealous lol

Mine never did that. one day I noticed the status changed to "decision notification sent" so I checked historical claims and it said when it was opened and closed. Hoping to hear something back next week though

I am in a similar situation. My historical claim closed on Mar 11, so I am hoping to to hear something anytime now.

My findings came in 30 days after the historical claim close date.

RATINGS ARE IN!!!!!! 50%TDRL / 70% VA

Adjustment Disorder w/ Mixed Anxiety and Depressed mood (Also claimed as Insomnia & Sleep Disturbances): 50%
Migraines: 30%
Iliotibial Band Syndrome: 10%
Right toe condition: 10%
Conditions that were not rated: Bilateral dry eye syndrome (result of PRK), Photophobia, Right Iliopsoas Tendonitis

Not what I expected, in a good way I suppose, but I'm just happy to have an answer. I really thought I would've gotten severance or at most 30%. A little taken back by the TDRL though, not too sure what it entails except a reexamination every 12-18 months for 5 yrs. Is it true that if you're found fit they send you back?

Hey all! Happy Friday! Just a quick question since you're all at about the same phase, my eBenefits has a historical that I just noticed that closed on the 31st, that means it's been sent back the PEB and I have about a month or so before I receive my findings? I've been reading through the forums and that seems to be the case. I don't have my timeline listed, but my NARSUM was signed and my package was submitted January 28th and I noticed that my eBenefits changed to "Pending Decision Approval" on the 30th of March and then today I noticed the historical claim that was closed on the 31st of March. Sound about right? Thanks in advance for your help!

Congrats. If I understand correctly, the TRDL means that at a later date they will re-evaluate your conditions, and determine if you are still disabled or not. I believe it just means that if you have less than 20 years, and you are no longer found to be on the TDRL they will no longer pay you the medical retirement pay. Your VA benefits will continue though.

I could be wrong though.
