"Pending decision approval"

Hello all, my case went from MEB to PEB a couple weeks before the Christmas holidays. Now in mid Jan ebenefits says pending decision approval. I have looked around and still can't figure out if this is a sign that a FIT UNFIT decision is near, already made or is it just a generic status update?
From the posts here I gather timelines are all over the place so I won't ask the question we all want to know lol. But I am curious as to the importance or un-importance of the ebenefits status.
My referred condition is cervical spondylosis and other cervical condition with left arm pain due to nerve compression. I estimate via my ROM, a 20-30% rating with 10% added for arm (IF they list it separate). I have others claimed for VA but I am more concerned about my referred conditions as my family and I are praying for retirement.
Anyways, thanks in advance for reading and any inputs

Sorry, also:

I am AD Navy

Pending Decision Approval means they have rated the case and sent it back to the PEB. The PEB will make a decision as far as your fit/unfit. This typically takes 10 days or less. You can contact your PEBLO to see if they have gotten anything back from the PEB.

Mine states "Preparation For Decision" and has for the last 3 weeks. Any idea where its at or the timeline for me to receive my ratings?

Ok thanks for the input. I actually spoke to my peblo who was not super enthusiastic about looking for it but then said my FIT UNFIT findings are not in yet. I just figured they would be since it's at PDA. She says call back in Feb lol. Anyways, ill keep checking and try to be patient. I would like to be out by May and on leave by late Mar.

From my digging, it looks like your in stage 5 of 8. It should say pending decision approval next for you. But idk for sure I'm still a rookie at this

If you are awaiting results from the VA then that tells you right there that you are UNFIT. The VA doesn't even receive your claim until you are found unfit. If you are found fit then your results are sent straight from DC to your PEBLO. Because you are waiting for a claim to be rated, youe not fit for full. After you are found unfit your package is sent to the VA for ratings. After your rating is complete you will have 2 claims listed. 1 claim is under HISTORICAL claims on the e-benefits site. The other claim (THE SAME CLAIMS) is still listed as pending decision approval. If you have 2 claims one is history and the other "PENDING DECISION APPROVAL" that means the VA has COMPLETED the claim and has sent it back to the PEB in DC for what is called Q&A phase. This phase is strictly for quality assurance purposes for the PEB to make sure all of your claims add up to the proper percentage and every I was dotted and T was crossed This phase is not listed so not a lot of people know it adds another 3-6 weeks onto your waiting time. Once it is signed off by the PEB president as OKIE DOKIE good to go, it is immediately forwarded to the CHIEFS board NOT your PEBLO days after receiving to notify you. Once you are notified you go in and see your ratings. If accepted you have 10 days to meet with a lawyer and make sure everything is on the up and up OR appeal it. Then you meet with your PEBLO and the VA in your assigned location for OUTPROCESSING procedures and then you get your DD214 and you say ADIOS MILITARY. Hope this helps some of you :)

JUNE 13TH 2015 STARTED PEB
AUGUST 16TH FINISHED VA APPOINTMENTS
SEPTEMBER 24TH PACKAGE SENT TO DC
NOVEMBER 30TH FOUND UNFIT
DECEMBER 10TH VA RECIEVES CLAIM
DECEMBER 30TH VA COMPLETES CLAIM AND IS FORWARDED BACK TO PEB FOR PEDNDING DECISION APPROVAL AND Q&A PHASE
TODAY- AWAITING RATINGS

Thats how I was thinking as well, but I thought it strange that the peblo told me no fit or unfit is in yet. Confusing
Also, I still only have 1 claim listed in open claims. None in historical

I been at the pending decision approval for months hopefully get something back soon

My case went all the way from pending decision approval to complete. Once it was complete it went to historical claims and the pending decision approval was slabbed on my open claim. I called 1-800-827-1000 which is the main VA line. Tell them that your case is pending decision approval and if it is actually back to the PEB or not. They 98.45% of the time will NOT under any circumstances tell you WHAT your rate is but will in fact tell you the date your claim was received because they received the unfit memo. Let me know if you get anything :-)

Oh and also PEBLOS like to tell you ALL the things all at once as in EVERYTHING is back your unfit rating and all the bells and whistles. I'm just annoying as all hell I feel and have weekly call meetings with my peblo and she tells me everything every week. Keep your head up. If your peblo is communicating then just ask the VA when they received your package and BOOM your unfit notification is involuntarily released to you :-)

I think everyone's case is different (obviously)....also I wouldn't rely too much on Ebennies. My claim status has been "Preparation for Decision" since November..and according to my Peblo, I haven't even been found unfit yet (they are still reviewing my case).

Unfortunately ebenefits is the only way to somewhat track the case which sucks. This whole process is stressful enough without being kept in the dark. Wish you guys luck and I will keep you posted on my case. In a way, the longer it takes the longer I have to build up our savings. (Trying to stay positive lol)

Yeah definitely just try to stay positive. I am literally the last person on Earth that should be telling someone else to stay positive but you just have to go with it. I have been able to save and save and that's the only thing keeping me from going bonkers; Atleast I'm getting paid. Whether we're marching or fighting the pay is the same so just try to stay driven towards to end and don't let yourself go insane by checking E-benefits on the hour EVERY hour (me for a week) I hope you get your results back soon and things turn around :-) Keep us posted.

@NAVYMA1 it takes a couple of months for the board just to get to your case. They will also be backed up a little due to the holidays, The VA will be faster than the board itself. in my case it took about 45 days for them to find me unfit and now I am just waiting on the board to send the info to the actual military PEBLO's at balboa so I can be medically retired. this whole process is long and drawn out with too many middle man. and the information is never up to date or passed on. I called the VA and they told me that my rating had been sent back to the board and the next day I called the PEBLO and they told me that my stuff had just got to the VA. So there is a big communication breakdown within this whole process. I apologize for this long reply but patience is key and all we can do is bug the peblos the whole time until its done.

Agreed. I will just carry on and try to stop worrying about constant updates with my case. I suppose I will get a call when I get a call. In the meantime I will prepare as if I will be UNFIT and focus on what I can do to set my family up for success or at minimum, so that we are not struggling too much. Scary stuff but I have to make it happen for my family's sake. Thanks for hearing me vent and giving all your inputs! Much appreciated

My case was found unfit and my ratings were low so I requested a formal board were I was found fit, I then appealed then fit decision and am now awaiting the appeal decision and have been waiting a month because I got a new diagnoses so it is very frustrating. I have been in the PEB system since April 2015.

Wow that's too bad. One of the things that would worry me if I appealed. Takes so long and they can reverse findings

My case has been pending decision approval for over 4 weeks now, with still no word.
