Got my orders for ritirement yesterday.
briefing @1100 today and ID card tomorrow....
Dfas already started my paperwork and said I should be paid by 28 April..

It's been a VERY VERY LONG AND GRUELING wait and process, but everyone hang in there and when you least expect it things will be done. It was almost 3years since I started this process so I know how long the wait can be.

Congrats! How long did it take to receive your orders from the time you received your retirement letter? ~6 months?

Hi, I just received my certified letter today. I was approved retirement. Do you have an idea about how long before. I start receiving letters from the other department, or the actual retirement order? I imagine that this letter is not enough for my retirement ID. Thank you for your help through this long process.

OP said it only took him 1 week to receive orders after receiving the certified letter. However, I received my certified letter late last year and am still waiting for my orders (Air Force). Only thing I have received since was another letter stating they are working on my paperwork and to expect a few month wait (that was in April), although I believe this varies between branches.

And to answer your question, you are correct; the letter alone is not enough to get on base yet. You need orders and a revised DD214 to receive your ID.

Having problems getting my Retired ID and updating Deers.

Hello, I received my medical retirement orders July 3. I went to mcdill afb to get my ID card but unfortunately the Army HRC needs to update my info an unlock the Discharge status before the ID card section can Issue or update my Deers info. I called fort Knox Wednesday and was told that my info was updated. Went Saturday to get my ID card but encounter the same problem and was told to call the HRC again. I will call July 10 and try again to see if I can get it issue on Tuesday.
Did anyone have problems getting their retired I'd card after the pdbr process?

I didn't have this problem but the problem I'm running into is that DFAS doesn't have a copy of my orders even though I have the new orders and my new ID. And they won't take a copy of the orders from me
