My Slow Timeline

Five months into the process and im still waiting to talk with the VA. Looking at other people's timelines here, it seems like mine is moving significantly slower than most others.

Wanted to put my timeline out there for reference as an outlier in how long a MEB can take. I've had two long years at this point to make my peace with being separated like this. Happy to answer any questions.

ID and Treatment:
12 July 2024 - Lab work identified critical readings, code 37 applied​
Aug 2024 - Dec 2025 - Discovery and treatment for two conditions. PCM mentioned MEB many-MANY times, I kept kicking it down the road.​
5 Jan 2026 - 2nd biopsy & labs showed no improvement​
23 Jan 2026 - Told PCM i wouldnt fight a medboard anymore, PCM started working IRILO paperwork​

IRILO/PRE-IDES:
25 Feb 2026 - Form 1185 (CIM) sent to commander, suspense 4 March​
17 Mar 2026 - 1185 Signed​
XX Mar 2026 - NARSUM completed at some point​
17 Apr 2026 - IRILO package sent​
27 May 2026 - FL4 notification​

MEB/IDES:
01 Jun 2026 - Mandatory DES Counseling, Elected IDES​
TBD - PEBLO sends EHR to VA and MSC assigned?​
 
Update:
29 Jun 2026 - PEBLO sends EHR to VA and MSC assigned
 
02 July 2026 - Meeting with MSC, filled out forms.
 
10 July 2026 - Leidos QTC call, C&P exams scheduled 13-20 July. 8 exams total

Yea man, this whole process has been a drag but hopefully at this point its smooth sailing!
 
18 July 2026 - final C&P exam completed, (20 July C&P was moved up)
 
24 July 2026 - additional C&P "exam" needed. Need +1 vial of blood
 
06 Aug 2026 - Notified by the VA that the exam stage is complete and results are ready for my PEBLO to download
 
10 Aug 2026 - PEBLO provided me DBQs for my records.

I reviewed my DBQs and it seemed like my big VA exam that has all the musculoskeletal conditions listed, the guys spent about 7 mins, running me through the gambit taking maybe 10 seconds for each condition and marked everything as fine. Never asked a question, didnt marked symptoms that I told him about or are in my specialist records. And he measured almost everything as 5/5 fine or whatever.

I knew walking out of this appointment that it felt rushed so much that I sent in a official note to the VA stating my concern over the exam, but this is beyond rushing.. He even marked clear things that are in my record incorrectly like never had x medical procedure when I clearly have and have had several biopsies and such. Maybe i wouldnt care so much but this exam has my MEB referral conditions on it and like no symptoms and incorrect information is put on those conditions as well. I have plenty of specialist documentation for those, so maybe ill be fine.. idk

I feel like im being punked, does anyone have advice on this?
 
I had the same experience. I looked into it and have determined that I'm going to pursue the 1-time VA Ratings Reconsideration. I am already rated by the VA for the conditions I'm going through the DES for, and the medical records are pretty clear as are the past C&P exams. It makes me wonder if the VA examiners are taking a hard line under the new leadership in place.

Yea, its definitely a little off. I havent gotten rated for anything yet, I just looked at the DBQs and noticed that they skipped over a ton of stuff that are even in my records. I know a ton of that probably will put me in a lower rating.

Do you know if that one time va reconsideration will change your DoD rating if your % is changed? Or would this just adjust your VA rating?

The VARR will only be used to re-evaluate conditions that drove your MEB. So it would potentially affect DOD and VA ratings if increased. I just successfully completed a VARR after receiving my proposed ratings. I found a mistake in my DBQ where some boxes were not checked. I contacted the ODC and provided a written statement along with the DBQ form with errors highlighted, and relevant medical records as additional supporting documents. It took about 2 and a half weeks to complete.
 
18 Aug 2026 - recieved MEB determination -- referred to IPEB.​
19 Aug 2026 - accepted MEB results and returned documents to PEBLO​
20 Aug 2026 - PEBLO notified me documents were submitted to AFPC​
 
21 Aug 2026 - 1st MyFSS email
