It normally runs about 90-120 days for the prelim ratings, be proactive now and it will pay off later!

UPDATE TO MY TIMELINE ON 01OCT2013 THE PHYSICIAN HAS MY CASE AND IS DICTATING IT HOPEFULLY THIS DOESNT TAKE TO LONG.

UPDATE TO MY TIMELINE ON 04 OCT DATE PHYSICIAN DICTATED MEB NARRITIVE SUMMARY.

Got in contact with the PEBLO today I will have my med board packet in hand by the end of the week for review and signature. Then i will have to mail it back and wait for the VA. Wich i am sure is the longest process.

Good! Make sure everything is on that NARSUM!

Thanks i will make sure everything is on their. I did get my new perm profile issued with a updated pulhes.
they gave me a
PULHES
333113

here is what they put on the medical conditions block of the profile

Rheumatoid Arthritis, Seronegative involving Lumbar Spine, Bilateral Hands, Wrists, Shoulders, Hips, Knees, and
Ankles (P3);Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder (S3); Thoracolumbar Spine Osteoarthritis; Degenerative Disc Disease; Possible Congenital Spinal Stenosis per MRI (L3); Left Shoulder Rotator Cuff Tear and Shoulder Impingement; Status Post Surgery (U3)

Hopefully with the 3 under the S they find the PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder unfit.

I got my narsum and 3947 today and had a question about the 3947. Their are 5 conditions that they put are medically unacceptable. Is this the unfit memo I have been hearing about and are these the conditions the army will rate for the percentages for medical retirement?

No, the memo is a general memo it should be given to you when the PEB finds you unfit. The NARSUM and DA 3947 is a recommendation to the PEB to review, agree, deny an unfitting claim or add unfitting claims and then it goes to the VA. You should see ask about the memo in 2-4 weeks after it is sent to the PEB. With the shutdown, this may take a little longer... Keep us posted!

So generally if its on the da 3947 as unfitting it should be found unfitting thru the PEB right? One reason i am asking they found 5 conditions unfitting on the 3947 which i have listed. I have read somewhere before that if PTSD is found unfitting its pretty much a guarantee that you would get 50% TDRL just for that condition.
-Chronic PTSD
-Major Depressive disporder, single episode, Moderate
-Rheumatoid arthritis involving lumbar spine, bilateral hands, wrists, shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles
-Thoracolumbar spine osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease, possible congenital spinal stenosis
-left shoulder rotator cuff tear and shoulder impingement status post sergery

Kinda sorta... To put it into better words the PEB will review the NARSUM and DA 3947 with the MEB's recommendation on the fitting and unfitting claims. The MEB cannot be the final say on what is fit or unfit, they only deem that you have some conditions that may be worthy of separation, that is all on the PEB. The MEB's job is to record the medical information and make the recommendation on the evaluations from the DoD and C&P exams. The PEB has the capability to change something from unfit to fit and vise versa. The PEB is the final say on if you are fit for duty or not.

Yes, if PTSD is found unfit, then yes you can get the 50% rating TDRL, sometimes even PDRL depending on the case.

The PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder will be combined due to the pyramiding clause. They will rate them separately, then combine them and give you the rating for the worse rated condition.

Thanks for all of the info you have given me it helps alot. Today i applied for SSDI online and i am going to run and take over a copy of all the med documents to the social security office. I hope this isnt to much of a fight.

Good deal; indeed! :)

To that extent, hopefully, a favorable "disabled" determination shall be forthcoming for the award of SSA SSDI disability compensation benefits.

By the way, please don’t forget to obtain the name of the SSA representative lending assistance to include asking for a receipt for proof of delivery of your medical documents from that individual.

Also, the SSA representative is trained to observe your actions for official annotation into your SSDI case file so please be very aware of your surroundings upon entering that SSA Field Office. ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Thanks for that info I read it right before I walked in to the office. Everything went smooth. They were real nice and processed everything for me I got my receipt and her name like you said. One think I did learn is that once it gets approved I will be able to file a claim for my kids that will add up to another 700 a month in benifets. Also talked to the PEBLO today she is forwarding my packet to the PEB today and she said I should have my unfit memo with in a week.

So my timeline has been updated on AKO here is what it looks like now.

Physicians notification of MEB: 08/05/2013
Date of Peblo Counseling: 09/03/2013
Physical Exam Completed: 09/12/2013
Checked Ebenifits and is
in the review of evidence: 09/13/2013
Awaiting Narsum Dictation: 09/17/2013
Date of MEB Physician Appointment: 10/01/2013
Date Physician dictated MEB narrative Summary: 10/04/2013
Date Patient counseled on MEB: 10/15/2013
Date MEB with signatures of approving authority returned to PEBLO: 10/17/2013
Now the status says awaiting PEB findings.

My PEBLO said i should have the unfit memo within the week so it seems like things are going pretty smooth for me. I know the long wait is coming with the VA. I am sure i will get pretty unpatient with that since everything up until this point seems to be moving pretty smooth.

Thanks everyone for the suport. Everyones help and advice has been great and has helped alot. From what to expect with the timelines to advice on dealing with the social security office. I just hope i can learn alot and pass it on as well.
