I know there has been discussion about this in a couple threads, but I thought it would be helpful to have one place for people to share and ask questions about the new dashboard.

I have attached my screenshot from 10/28/13 for reference. I am also cataloging the daily averages to work on some forecasting. After seeing the big difference in VA Rating phase, it may take a bit to settle down before we can do some accurate forecasting.

For my part, I just sent them feedback through the link in the dashboard as follows. I encourage everyone to submit feedback so this resource will be as accurate and useful as its intent:
---------------------- My Feedback --------------------------------------
I will be direct about the issues. I am an extremely frustrated service member going through the MEB/PEB. This is a great step towards helping to provide some predictability, but there are several problems that need attention.

Days remaining is broke. It is based on estimated finish date, which is not based on any of the data on the dashboard. The average for VA rating phase went from 140 on 28 October to 163 on 29 October. If this is 90-day rolling average that is a significant change and would lead me to believe that it is either a statistical anomaly or a bug.

Being ahead of schedule is based off the Army delta. This is not accurate. The schedule is the mandated 295 and being ahead/behind should reflect that.

For the current phase, the delta is meaningless because the phase is still in process. It should play no factor in performance, because one does not actually know when that phase will complete. If it was the delta from the required timeline then it would show how much further behind the process is failing for the service member.

The completed date for IPEB does not reflect the start date for the VA rating phase. Mine is only 4 days, but others have been significantly more. There needs to be a start date field to provide better transparency.

The graphing engine needs work. I am kicked out of the system frequently. There needs to be an all army historical graph. There needs to be a last 90-day histogram with a distribution curve and standard deviation. The average is meaningless. A better way is to say 80% complete this phase in 140 days +/- 10 days. Do this for 80%, 90% and 95% and it will provide a better predictor for service members and their leaders.

Graphing for my UIC is not helpful. The sample size, even in a WTU is not useful. Trying to graph with parent and child crashes and kicks me out. For that matter, sample size should always be included when discussing any average or distribution.

Mine is almost the same as yours. I think the system needs an major update.

To say that I am extremely frustated would be putting it mildly.

Just so you all know, I just backspaced a huge rant.

MoMorg, I have info to share with you, msg shortly.

I think the PEB Forum should have a Virtual Beer night. We can throw back a few and have ourselves a virtual rant, haha. Virtual on the get together, not the beer ;)

so 225 is broken what if it went down is it good or bad
I think it will go down every day. The problem is it is based on an estimated finish date that is arbitrary. I think most people that have posted have had the same finish dates.

The goal date is be your MEB start date + 295 days. To give you a ballpark number, take your current phase and add all the Army averages from that phase onward and then subtract the number of days you have been in the current phase. If you want to have a idea on when you will hit TRANSPOC don't add the last two phases. If you want to estimate without an FPEB subtract that step as well.

Adding all the averages. Right now it is 296 from start to hitting TRANSPOC without FPEB or VARR.

Finally figured out why we all have the same days remaining. What it is doing is adding all the days for the Army average for the phases after the phase you are currently in. So if you are waiting on ratings it will be 222 until the averages change. The estimated finish date is based off of that. So the problem is, if you are in day 1 or day 150 of the VA rating phase it will say 222.

In the "Actual" column, the actual number of days is calendar days plus 1. The shared date counts for both steps, i.e.,
Let's say,
VA Claims -completed date- 06/05/2013 (then sent to Medical Exams on the 5th, a shared day)
Med Exams -completed date- 06/15/2013. 5th to the 15th = 10 days, add the shared day = 11 days for Med Exams
This should work all the way down the step column. I believe I'm right, but I am willing to learn if I should be corrected. So, I did all the "adding the days" math to see why I am only showing 90 days in my actual column for VA Rating.
IPEB ended 9July13.
# of days since 9 July 13: July 23, Aug 31, Sep 30, OCT 31, Nov 4 = 119
That's cool. Not a bad number at all. But, I'm only showing 90. 29 days are MIA. I completed a feedback and requested to have this number corrected or forwarded to a technician that can. Let's see how it goes. When the reply comes in, I'll post. I hope dashboard works better for others; it gives me information I know by heart and has me getting screwed out of almost a month's time. I really hope they can get mine fixed. It was checked by VA on the 31st and it was labeled as adequate for rating, so, they had it before the 29 days went walkabout.

MoMorg, Check-Roger on the 222. Days remaining goes down 1 every day, unless VA goes another day over 15, which keeps the number the same. Consequently, our days ahead of schedule (top right) does go down 1 day for every day that VA is late. Today I am 138 days ahead of schedule. On my 16th VA Day, I was 242 days ahead of schedule (with the 29 days of correction). Sign the 199 and clear Finance is all I have to accomplish to go home...I have 83 days of leave. When my Active Duty ends, my AD retirement will automatically begin and the CRDP VA Disab should be about the same time. I'll be sending VA my 214 via USPS and FedEx overnight, insured, return receipt, as well as online, and depending on how the day is, I might drive it to the nearest VA and hand deliver it, too. My SSDI approval is also just around the corner.

So, I'm waiting for VA...

Cheers,

I now have proof that the Dashboard in not accurate My dashboard says I have 202 days left, I was contacted by my PEBLO this AM and told my orders are being signed and my retirement date is 9 DEC 2013.

my dashboard is at "PEBLO Counsel & Soldier Election" and is at a delta of +225 days, well that is sure wrong. P

I don’t mean to sound negative, but I have found that most of the military computer programs don’t work. The VA ebenefits is another program that doesn’t work. What a joke. LOL I don’t know how you guy can do all that math when there is so many variables.:)

Army averages updated today on the dashboard. Slight drop in total time of Army average to 486 from 491.

Also my days remaining now says 0 and estimated finish date is unknown. My VA phase is updated now as well with the date my preliminary ratings completed (10/30). So about a week for that to update.

Indeed, welcome to the "0" and "unknown" data club! ;)

To that extent, I initially have been receiving that type of information since almost two weeks ago; not putting much trust in the new database system for sure!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Lest we forget: If the data we have is in fact wrong, it has the same value as "0" and "Unknown."
To my own conclusion, I have found that knowledge gained from brother and sister cyber warriors in this forum has value that can never be measured, only deeply appreciated. This forum is far-reaching in so many categories; there is knowledge to be gained here for every MEB/PEB Warrior. Thank you, JP.
For me, the new IDES Dashboard is cool and has nice colors, but it only provides speculation, entertainment, and something to waste my time on while I wait for VA. Again, that's for me.
Days Waiting for VA: 121, Dashboard shows 92. That's 29 days of being behind schedule for retirement, freedom, days I could be doing something besides sitting in a blank office waiting for VA 5 days a week. Really, I kinda wish the dashboard didn't exist.
I just backspaced a giant rant. We are all glad I did. :D
Cheers!
Oh yeah, I'm currently going through another round of passing kidney stones. I have DR's verbal orders to drink beer because they aren't moving...How awesome is that? Painful as it is, gotta go!

Hmm, indeed an interesting perspective in my opinion! ;)

I hope you feel medically better even with the authorized consumption of alcoholic beverages. Take care! :)

IDES dashboard data updated. I have attached a chart of the current weekly trend. Sorry I have only collected data starting at the VA rating phase, since this seems to be where the delays are right now.

I am currently in the va ratings phase, and have been for about 4 1\2 months, and have - 6.0 days untill I reach the army average, I feel it is wrong to assume that the va will have my ratings by day zero and my PEBLO told me that he thinks It will be at least another month or two. My question is how accurate is the ides dashboard or is it just useless information ? Does anyone notice a trend where people are getting there ratings sent within + / - 10 days of reaching the army average or anything like that, I understand that every case is different but I am just confused on the total lack of information during the ratings phase.

The IDES dashboard is fairly accurate as long as there are no holidays, no vacations, no sick days, etc. If you are within 6 days of the average, your case is either on someone's desk or is about to be. Christmas vacations have already started, some this week, most next week. The averages quickly slow down before the holidays and are slow to pick up afterwards. And, let's not forget about New Year's...
Much more has to be considered, like, are the raters thinking about your case or what to get Little Jimmy for his big gift. Your PEBLO is correct. Plan on another month. Yes, most people get their ratings very close to the avereage, mine was over a month late. Yes, there is a total lack of information. Nobody knows what play the coach is going to call next. Welcome to the team.
Just wait for it, be patient, shut up and color...is crap. An idle mind is never a good thing. Try to keep your mind straight, find something mentally challenging and productive to do - something that will take longer than a day. Get up an hour earlier than usual, go oto bed an hour earlier. Go sit out in the woods on a cold winter morning just before sunrise (quietly for about 2 hours) and watch the world come to life. Take a friend with you or go by yourself. Volunteer some work and promise to be back the next day. Don't close your mind to anything because you are worried about what people think, anybody thinks or whether it's the cool or popular thing to do. I read some history books and went exploring on some federal reserve land (with proper permit) and yes, the world is amazing at sunrise. Waiting for VA doesn't have to be a drag. Be good to yourself, and be good to your mind.
Oops, kinda went on there, didn't I?
But, still...

Thanks for the reply, and I feel like a month is fairly accurate, based on nothing of course...... Thanks for the advise and I have been keeping busy, I think the hardest part is when everyone around you, including people that started after you are all getting there ratings and it can only leave you to assume that your slipped behind a desk somewhere or "was misplaced". This whole system kinda makes me laugh inside a little bit, expecially since Obama care is coming into play and people have no idea how "efficiently" a govt backed system functions, they are in for a rude awakening... sorry to get all political on ya! but I really do appreciate your input ! cheers

Yes this morning my IDES dashboard is saying that exact message- " You do not have an open case"
I am assuming that the system is down for sometime of software update?
