My MEB/IDES process should have actually started back in May, however, there was a "computer glitch" and the MEB office didn't receive the initial request. I had to speak with the OIC of my primary care facility in order to get another initiation put in. It wasn't long after that that the process started rolling in quick.

I'm claiming the following:
Recurrent Pilonidal Cyst (Pilonidal Disease)
Pilonidal Cyst Scar (Hasn't healed; 9 months since surgery)
Anxiety/Sleep issues (Combat related. Later diagnosed as PTSD)
Chronic Low Back Pain (Diagnosed as Chronic Lower Back Strain)

I'll update this as progression occurs. Thanks

I'm at Fort Gordon also
I was referred to the MEB in Jan
Initial counseling with my PEBLO on 2 Feb
Found unfit 28 July
Ratings sent to PEB on 4 Sep
Still waiting for my ratings and my 199...unfortunately

Hey B, your process seems to be taking some time! I was found unfit on 12 Sept and my packet was sent to the Seatle office. I was told 2 months from time I was found unfit but some people have gotten lucky and their time goes by super fast! Fort Gordon is nice...I've been there a few times. I'm a 25U

Right...it seems that others that started around the same time as me are either nearly done or done already. I call my PEBLO every week to get an update, she emailed the PEB 2 weeks ago and still no word. I'm hoping to get my 199 any day now although my VA rep has been saying this for about 3 weeks. I keep trying to call the VA to see if they can fax over my ratings but can't get through to a rep.

Hey SGT B...about how long did it take the PEB to find you unfit after it was sent to Sam Houston?

Edit: Also, how many conditions were you claiming?

It took about 2 months, my packet was forwarded to the PEB at the beginning of June and I claimed 6 conditions one unfitting. I was never told I was found unfit I assumed that if the VA had it for rating I was, which was the case. I didn't actually see an unfit memo until about a month after I was found unfit. Who's your PEBLO?

Got impatient, contacted the PEB and was told they haven't received my ratings from the VA although VA said they sent them to the PEB on 4 Sep. Told to call back Friday they would email the VA to have my stuff sent back over and would fast track it since it has already been a month...frustrating!!!

See I don't know where my PEB is...I'm going through Fort Knox

SGT B,
You and I are at the same stage, albeit you've been waiting a bit longer for your 199. I've been waiting for 2 weeks now for my 199. What contact number did you use to contact the PEB? Do you have a POC over there?

SGT B was a big help.

Update:
Found UNFIT by PEB: 01 October 2012
Packet sent to VA for ratings: 02 October 2012

210-221-9027 SFC Vargas you might wanna double check that it actually made it :)

It’s all kinda confusing if you ask me. My status on ebenefits changed on the 19th sept to pending decision approval. I called that week and they said it wasn’t finished, I called the next week and got the same thing. I called 1 Oct and was told that it was mailed to me and the Peblo on the 19th, so I asked if they could fax my proposed ratings and they did. When I got the proposal it was dated the 19th. Well they really don’t know if they are coming or going do they.

Sgt B, I'm in the same boat. My VA ratings were complete at the end of August. I have already gotten my VA ratings from the Seattle office. Unfortunatly, the PEB has never received my VA ratings. I have been calling SFC Vargas every week. She finally told me that something does not sound right (Do ya think?) and that I should call the VA. The VA took almost 2 full days to find my paperwork. Instaed of going to Ft Sam Houston, the VA sent my paperwork to the St Louis Regional VA Office. I'm supposed to call back today and find out if the VA office in St Louis has forwarded my paperwork to Texas. What a nightmare!

Wow that is pure ridiculousness! (I'm sure that's not a word) Hopefully they will give you some good news this morning. I have to call back this morning also to see if my 199 was sent to my PEBLO (fingers crossed). Do you know if I get to choose my out date when I sign my 199?

So I'm waiting on my 199 still too. Get this - The VA told me my ratings were complete and released 2 weeks ago. I tried to track them to PEB and they didn't receive them. I called the VA back and they told me they were kicked back in the review phase. SFC Vargas is trying to track them but she's on leave until the 17th now. We called my PEBLO a few days ago and got a hold of the VA rep at FT Benning for the PEBLOS and they told me that my ratings were released. Basically they're all pointing fingers at each other. Anyone got any advice or contact numbers I can call?

Fun fact: I did some estimation of the numbers according to the FY 13 reports and with the current 12400 soldiers in iDES, we're currently wasting around $250,000,000 of tax dollars every 6 months just in pay. Basically the VA needs to be audited. The good idea fairy strikes again.

Well, I just received a call from the PEB at Ft. Sam Houston (in all fairness, the people there have been great, unlike my PEBLO whom I have'nt talked to in about 2 months) and was told that their system is down and it might be another 1 to 2 weeks before they can start processing paperwork again. The person that I talked to (Blair) was very nice and apologetic. Looks like I'll just have to be patient a while longer.

Thanks for the update BlackHawk. I'd still rather they make up for the loss in earnings among us than give the standard - "I'm sorry and I understand but there's nothing I can do about it" response though. Wishful thinking that the government will one day get their act together.

It seems God has a sense of humor and my ratings were forwarded today. I just spoke with the DAV whom I would recommend to anyone looking for transparency. Now I guess I just have to wait for the system to be fixed.
