Finally Received Findings

So I have finally received my findings. You can view them below in my signature.

I am not really happy with the DOD rating. I had a mental health addendum submitted for the board to consider as well as my left knee which was my original unfitting condition. The board did not concur with the VA percentage (even though the VA gave a 70%). It is what it is.

I will take my severance pay and close this chapter of life and move on. As much as I would love to stick around and fight for 30% or higher on the DOD side, I have an excellent opportunity that comes with a pretty high start out salary for just transitioning out of the Marine Corps. There is a timestamp on the offer however, so I am not going to jeopardize losing it by pulling my hair out with the government for 4 to 6 more months. Enough damage has been done for now.

I do have a couple of other conditions to add onto my VA claim however, so I am hoping that the process will go smoothly and bump up my VA percentage up to 100%.

Any questions or comments are more then welcome. Especially if anyone has any insight on the process of receiving an EAS date ASAP (like sooner the 3 weeks they keep saying it'll take) or changing what MMSR-4 decides.

Awesome, yea I just got off the phone with a civilian at MMSR-4. He said anywhere between 3 to 5 weeks for it to post. After it changes in MOL, go to IPAC outbound and they will draw up your orders which you'll need to start the TMO moving process.

I also asked how to go about getting your new EAS moved closer up. He said to get your command involved and have an endorsement drawn up and emailed to their help desk address posted on their Manpower Reserve website. 30 days of PTAD will be added to however many leave days you have saved up. I'm not sure how many more days gets added to that. I would assume at least a couple of weeks to give time to check out and schedule a move. Camp Pendleton DMO is currently needing at least a 10 day advance notice.

Outbound said they could draft the TMO documents I need now

What other documents would you need other than your orders which state what you rate based on your findings.

Well, they said since I'm extended past my EAS ,and regardless of the findings of the board I'm going to get out, they can generate the 11060 for TMO.

Gotcha. That makes sense then.

For once, something makes some small amount of sense...lol.

Why didn't the board find you unfit for mental health?

That is a good question honestly. After being rated at 70% for PTSD w/ alcohol disorder with bruxism you would think that would be plenty enough evidence of being unfit to continue service. If anyone else has an opinion on that please throw it out there bc I really don't understand it either.

can you post the "findings" page of your PEB packet? Mine listed exactly why certain things were found fit

  • My friend signed his findings and turned them in on May 17. He received notification on May 31 that his new EAS was June 8.
  • A guy I worked with had a six-figure job offer that came with a deadline in January. He got his PEB lawyer involved and our command involved. Two weeks after his ratings were handed down he was back in Texas.

Did he request an ASAP Eas? That's very quick!

It seems the IPEB auto-default is 10% sep w/sev w/o benefits.

I would, at the very least, appeal to the PDBR after you're out bro

I'll appeal it after this shit is all over. This has strained my life in more ways then one. It's time to move on for me. Plus, I understand Tricare would be free and all but, really is Tricare even good enough insurance to fight for lol

If you are single, it may not be but if you have a family, it most definitely is. Good luck with everything

I would rather have the lump sum, because it will be a down payment on my house. I will be able to start building my dream retirement home and be debt free on everything except a mortgage.

However, the advantage to Tricare is that: A) you have been using it your entire career so you are familiar with it. Should be an easy transition to using Tricare if you are retired. B) It's about the cheapest insurance you can get. It covers everything and doesn't cost a lot yearly or for co-pays.

If you get a job that pays at least what your PSMC (Personal Statement of Military Compensation) on MOL says you "make" then you shouldn't be too hard up. That PSMC includes $209/month for single or $475/month for family for medical care, so you can afford health insurance premiums on your own.
