Has anyone else got this sort of letter stating their case will be expedited and not meet the deadline? If so how many months over until you got your decision?

Yeah, I received one of these letters in August of last year, and it has been nine months, and there has been no word on mine either. It's the adage, "hurry up and wait."

Sending my application to ARBA it took 5 months to be filed into receipt. On top of that it took 24 months of review to get this letter I posted. Since this letter it’s going on 12 months being reviewed by ABCMR. Total 41 months pending a decision.

One thing you can take from these letters is that they are "canned" responses and generic in nature.

Are you on temporary disability retirement?
You know, I didn't notice the differences between your letter and mine until you asked if I was TDRL. I find it curious that they used "permanent disability retirement" in my letter instead of the "desire for a medical retirement" in your letter, interesting.

Yes I noticed that, I find it interesting as well. Medical retirement is either PDRL or TDRL from my understanding.

I received my envelope from the ABCMR in the mail yesterday; it was a denial and was basically a rubber stamp of the previous decision. The board has yet to overcome its burden under the presumption of soundness, either the proof that it existed prior to service or wasn't aggravated by service. I guess I'm off to the Court for Federal Claims.

How long was ur case from start to finish? I'm requesting honorable to medical and it's been over 13.5 months.

I believe we applied in June 2020, but the Army Review Board took a few months to docket it, which they finally did in September. I received the decision yesterday, so I am shy of four years. Mind you, this was done during the height of COVID.

Are claims going quicker now? My attorney filed mine July 2023. Could anyone take a quick look over the last page of my attorneys argument and let me know if there seems to be any hope in my case please? Quick rundown.. got medvacd from Afghanistan for a S/I, then found out I had blood clots in my lungs. Was on a T3 Deadman profile over year and half then it was switched to a P2 Deadman profile for almost a year till I etsd. Army wouldn't allow me to reenlist due to being on blood thinners, pain killers and not able to deploy or do my MOS anymore.. was place at a local elementary school to be a mentor to 3rd graders till I etsd.

How long depends on how big of a backlog of claims they have. The ABCMR is known for its tortoise-like speed. Like an old commercial said, "Set it and forget it." Waiting almost four years was relatively short for me. I had to wait many years for the VA, which helped me to cope with this waiting period. Find a hobby and try and forget about it. Let it fall through the system; when it's ready, you will know.
