Anxiety Disorder part III - The NARSUM, Commanders Letter and the Threats. Help!

I just got a call from the MH folks. I have been setup with a new Psychologist and will no longer be seeing my old one. Patient Advocate talked to someone very high up the food chain and that person directed the change be made. Step in the right direction I think, we'll see how it goes. Still pending my PCM appt to talk to him about my NARSUM being out of date.

Now, this is promising news to hear...:)

Best Wishes!

Update time.

Alright, first the good news. Had an appt with my PCM and talked to him about the changes. He is going to add some things to the job impact section based on my inability to currently work in my career field and the fact I've been assigned to an admin job outside my shop.

Secondly, when I started talking about Anxiety it went from helpful and cordial to a bit tense of an issue, he re-iterated that I was not being boarded for my Anxiety and I think he thought I was trying to sneak something by him. I told him I was just confused about the process moving forward and I wanted to know what I needed to do to get a MH NARSUM addendum completed by my MH doc as they don't agree that it's a boardable condition. He told me that when my package went to the SGH after the board that the SGH would review it and go from there.

I went home and proceeded to flip out a little bit. Now that I've calmed down a bit I am trying to formulate an action plan moving forward. The patient advocate told me to let him know how the meeting with my PCM went, I think at this point I'm going to write up a letter detailing the various regulations that state that my mental health issues need to be addressed and requesting the patient advocate help me ascertain why this has not happened and why they keep running from it. Based on the conversation I had with him before there is a good chance that I may be sitting down with the SGH to talk this out, we'll see how tomorrow plays out. I'm writing up a copy of the letter now, will post it for your guys thoughts shortly.

Well, this continues to be promising news...:)

Thus, possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer!

Best Wishes!

Yep it is - thanks for pushing me that direction through PM's - very likely would not have got the nerve up to talk to the patient advocate without your 1on1 encouragement man.
You're welcome! I'm just glad and thankful that I could help. One of these days you'll be on the other side of this med board with a unique experience and knowledge; when you are, I hope you help other SM's who will be in the same situation you once were. :)

Well said ceilingfan; well said...:)

Where is your PEBLO in all this? I mean, PEBLO should understand that your BH condition needs to be addressed by the AF before your MEB packet is sent to PEB. Is your PEBLO just worthless?

I've spoke to my PEBLO's about this, but they say that's not their role, they're admin.

I fully intend to! Thanks again man :)

Wow. It is their job but ok. They are responsible for complete, accurate MEB before being sent to PEB. Anyway...

May I ask which instillation you are at? PM if don't want it on here.

Ok...just read through our PM's and see where you're stationed...so nevermind. :) Is your PEBLO a civilian?

From what you have described, I would venture a guess that the PEBLO's at your MTF aren't properly trained. And you said there's no MEB legal on your instillation, correct?

Nope - PEBLO is military. He is new to the job.

Sadly there is not.
Right now I'm documenting all the DODI and AFI references that I can find that state that the issues should be covered by a MEB, talked to the Patient Advocate and he's trying to get something setup with the SGH for today. Not backing down - hope the meeting goes well...

Yes! I really can't believe they have military in that position! Sad...and no MEB legal! Jeez! Good thing you found this site! ;)

Yep, it is a VERY good thing I found this site. I can see where having a civillian PEBLO could be very beneficial.

In my opinion, a military PEBLO is a feasible option under certain key factors.

Moreover, the key factors are to ensure that the individual is properly trained, and the position is not an assignment of temporary duty.

With that all said, once again, possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer.

Best Wishes!
