I'm an air tech with the 156th Air National Guard. I just returned from a 76 day tour in Mali, Africa. My MPA orders last day was Jan 2, 2011. In mid March I was diagnosed with Vivox type Malaria. LOD was processed and MedCom orders requested. The request for MedCom orders were made starting in April 11, 2011. Is this right?
Am I entitle to retroactive MedCom orders?
Need some help. Thanks.

I was authorised two months back pay on my MEDCON orders but was told that was not common. Never got to go back on orders as some unqualified individuals determined I was able to do my primary duties because I was working in a civilian job and not debilitated. Being a technician, you'll probably hear much of the same, maybe even more so since these people see you every day.

I had been on 5 years continious ADSW orders, until the PHA that found me unfit. It just so happened that it was a 28 day month and they told me that I had to be on 30 day orders before I could be retained on MEDCOMM orders. When this is all over, I am going to fight for the backpay, I should have been retained on orders until the PEB/MEB Process was completed according to the regulations.

you got orders for 5 years, one month at a time?

If there was no break in orders between a prior period and orders of only 28 days, I think you're still good....."Ruptured Duck" had similar circumstances....PM him

Also, what is important is that the illness or injury happened on orders over 30 days....not when it was discovered.

Some times it was 3 or 4 months at a time, then there were schools WOC school, WOBC, etc etc. But yes basically I was on orders for 5 years one or two months at a time.
