The entire Naval DES Program has shifted to maximum teleworking. No one is in the office to answer the phones. The SE Regional offices are conducting all our business via TCONs.
It’s been a minute on this topic but for anyone still looking, the Navy has started requiring personnel having a formal hearing to appear via telephone. They are not holding in-person hearing yet.
Here’s the BLUF:
If you have a condition that both the VA & the DoD say are worth 20%, and the DoD gives you a severance check because it interrupted your military service, you have been paid by the DoD for that condition. The VA cannot then pay you a monthly compensation for that condition...
@MilitaryBlake, no problem...
You will receive your full VA amount (100%) less the 20% compensation you would receive for the condition the DoD rated at 20%. The VA compensation for a condition rated at 20% is approx. $280.00/month. Two entities of the Federal Govt. cannot pay you for the...
If you take the severance, your VA pay will be reduced by approximately $280/month (because of your 20% rating) until the severance amount is paid in full. Once that occurs, you will receive your full VA pay.
As for CRSC, if your injuries are combat-related, then you should be arguing that up...

2 - Informal PEBs are on going as they are paperwork boards, no in - person testimony.
3 - The VA...
ok,the last info we were given is, 1- All Formal PEB boards are on hold. This will continue at least until stay at home orders are lifted. While the stays do not apply to the Federal Govt., it’s hard to get there without going thru a state with a stay order. 2- the informal PEB cases are...
If you haven't already made your election, I offer the following: When you take the 30% and retire from the DoD, you are not be able to request a reconsideration. Your only recourse would be to either request a correction of your military records or seek a higher rating from the VA.
Under the Pilot program, the VA assigns the ratings for service connected conditions. The PEB must accept the ratings the VA Disabilities Board in St. Petersburg assigns but only those ratings for unfitting conditions. Although they have the file, the VA Disabilities Board will not issue...
