Fort Lewis PEB

If i decide to sign the 199 next week, what is the next step and how long?
See my link in my signature block about what happens after signing the DA 199. ;)

Being that the status changed, on Friday last week. The break down will be 14-30 days for the PEB to "receive" it, then a week or less to review and assign the ratings. Then 1-4 weeks at the DA199 writer, then another week till you get a call.... So... about 1-2 months. You may get lucky and have the VA proposed ratings sent to your house, and even luckier and your PEBLO will call you and tell you both ratings over the phone when it hits the ePEB.

This is news to me since PEBLO's are supposed to be seperate from the VA rating system...
Thanks... I stay on my PEBLO, I have already blown a 80K a year job because of this damn process... and now haven't gotten any other offers. I'm glad they hiring veterans for federal positions<------SARCASM. It's a joke.

Thats a little lengthy dont you think? 1-2 months before they finally give me my proposed ratings.. its been there since 7 Nov.

It really depends on what VA is doing your ratings, mines where completed last Friday and was there since Nov 7th

SPC Leggett What VA did your ratings go through?

Well that gives me some hope :P

well my packet was supposed to have gone to the PEB on the 3rd of Dec but it sat on my PEBLO's desk for two weeks waiting on a paper that I already signed to be discovered missing and so I had to resign on the 19th and it was sent to the PEB then. I don't expect to hear anything until at least the end of January. I just know of others who have gotten their packet sent to the PEB lately have been getting through really quickly so we will see. I don't expect this process to move quickly in any way....more hands in the cookie jar the longer it takes....besides isn't it a standard DOD motto to "hurry up and wait!" :D

My timeline:
Jan 2011 - Submitted for MEB/PEB
May 2011 - Initial PEBLO brief (phone)
Nov 2011 - Initial VA MSC / PEBLO meeting
Dec 2011 - VA C&P Exams
Jan 2012 - MEB Exam
Feb 2012 - NARSUM signed
Mar 2012 - NARSUM sent to PEB
Jun 2012 - Unfit by PEB
Jul 2012 - VA Proposal (got it through the DAV (my VSO))
15 Aug 2012 - Entered "typing phase"
17 Sept 2012 - Received 199 (Seven referred) 70% referred / 80% VA (with three things deferred)
18 Mar 2013 - Final day in the Army
19 Mar 2013 - Promoted to PFC (Private Frick'en Civilian!!!) - Retirement date.

Congrats EagleOne. Bout time :)

As of Jan 2013, I have been in the process for 2 YEARS (from the time the WTU submitted my paperwork)!!! I asked for one administrative reconsideration, but otherwise did everything on time and pushed the system when it was stuck. I hope that I am a rare case.

Good luck everyone, and thanks for your service.

I am finally done...

My Ebennies changed today to Pending Decision Approval. So in a few days it went from Prep for decision to pending decision approval... so now what do you think the realistic timeline is for me to hear something?

Unless expedited, 3 months until you get your 199. If you want to know your results, get with a good VSO in your area (not on a base), that is tied to a VA hospital. Give one of their Veteran's Service Officers your power of attorney, and they should be able to pull up the VA's proposal.

All of my stuff so far has moved faster than posted on here...3 months is wayyyy long for them just to type up a form.

They did go to an electronic 199....not sure what your hold up would be

The PEB still has to "receive" the case back from the DRAS, but it shouldn't take very long (backlog dependent!).

It can take another week for them to sign off by the final reviewer, then up to anywhere from 1-30 days for the PEB to receive it back, another 1-3 weeks to get the 199 typed... I would say no more than 2 months at the latest to see your 199. Glad things are moving forward for you!

My PEB Lawyer told me that the peb can do Transition oreder to take me to my 20 year mark. That would only prob be 6 or less months. If that is not so then I REALLY need to know. I have LORs from three proir officers for COAD. That is Nov9 2013. I know I cant fight TDRL. I am not really fighting the VA the rate untill I am retiredthe rate is 90%. I have submitted my 4187 for LOS retirement. If aprooved I know they can give a presumtion of fittness. Hopefullt it will be aprooved. I was also notified I would be QMPd because of the relalitory NCOER I got, but as I understand it that prosses will not happen because I was found unfit before I was notified of QMP. I did reed that because of QMP a soldier in the MEB can'not submit for COAD, but I dont think that aplies to me because I was already found unfit before being notified of it. Maybe Jason can weigh in on all this. I demanded a formal board. My PEBLO tells me I prob wont have a date to apear untill March. Really what I am wondering is will these 3 COLs just say tough dude there is nothing we can do, or will they work with me. I do know I can appeal to the Army disability Agency after the formal PEB. All in all I am fighting for my last 10 months. If the Army does not let achive it I will contact my congressmen and senators. I will contact the news in every state, and town I have family. I will let EVRYBODY I posibly can know what is being done to me. Since all this has started and my hole career I hvae done the right thing. How in the HELL could a wonded and decorated soldier with over 19 years not be aloud to do his last 10 months.
The Physical Disability Agency will process your orders (after your Formal PEB and any appeals). Depending on your timeline, you might game it to your 20 year mark. Still, you should submit a COAD. You won't get a Presumption of Fitness due to not having approved retirement prior to dictating your NARSUM and not being within a year of mandatory retirement. If you are going to a Formal PEB, let them know your desired outcome. The Board members really are there to take care of Soldiers - it's not designed to be adversarial.

it's not designed to be adversarial.
It sure can be, almost everyone has had to fight something or another... I really disagree with that statement sorry...

Last week my PEBLO told me they started my informal 199. So either this week or next week I hope to see something. If it is electronic why would it still take so long.
