Once you sign that 199 things will go by very quick
This is what I'm am hoping happens. Would the 2-4 week time frame to get out sound about right.
Depends on how long it will take for you to come up on TRANSPOC and depended upon retirement briefs!
Once you sign the 199 head over to your MSC and knock out your VA exit exam, that's where you get your direct deposit setup with the VA and also if you have wife and kids give your MSC copy of marriage certificate and kids copy of SS cards!
Then once your issued your DD214 take it to your MSC and get him/her to upload it and date stamp it in front of you ( you can also upload to your ebenefits to be on the safe side)
All that's to easy I appreciate the info. My peblo would not tell me my ratings today due to mandatory training. So I called my MSC and he won't tell me cause they can change but said I am going to be very happy and that my family is taken care of. Getting close!!
My ebenifits has said preparing for decision and evidence needed is past due since OCT12 which was when I started the IDES. Both VA phone bank and MSC told me not to worry about that. I was also told by the dentist at the VA that my case was a category 3 out of 8 categories. I am assuming category 1 is veterans who may be on deaths door and then it goes down from there in priority, which is how it should be. Does anyone have any info as to these "categories" and timelines for each one? I could be totally off here but it makes sense from what I heard.

Once you are retired and waiting on your Va pay to kick in do you get all of your dod base pay or just the percentage you were awarded from Dod....I have heard both answers and I don't know which is correct

As a start, I suggest that you visit http://www.va.gov/statedva.htm for potential assistance.
To that extent, it's in your best interest to make that aforementioned inquiry for future additional service-connected disability benefits with your particular State/Territory DoVA Office!

Percentage of whatever your rated at by DOD but no higher than 75% of base pay
Only for the clarification of information in reference to military disability retirement pay, it calculated on the basis of your actual DoD disability rating (i.e. 30% rating) or length of service rating (e.g., 2.5% times years of service), whichever is higher. Remember that the DoD disability rating percentage is capped at 75% albeit the length of service rating no longer has the 75% maximum cap.
To that extent, military service members who entered active duty after September 8, 1980, will have their retired base pay calculated as the average of their "high 36-months" of basic pay. For military service members who entered before September 8, 1980, the final basic pay method is used.
For the purpose of calculating disability retirement pay, the military service member's grade is the highest of the following:
- Military service member's current grade
- Highest grade military service member satisfactorily held
- Grade to which the military service member was pending a promotion
It's important to note that retirement at a higher grade for military service members on an approved promotion list will not increase their retired pay if they fall under the high 36-month retired pay base system.
As such, if a military service member is placed on TDRL by the PEB, then their retired pay shall be calculated using a minimum of 50% even if their combined rating was less than 50%.
