DAV is a veteran service organization
(VSO) that help veterans initiate and keep track of their claims.. 250 is for lifetime membership depending on age at time of membership. VSO represent veterans for free, you must sign a power of attorney for them to handle your claim and for them to have assess to your information.

So which is the best to get help from? I am already a member of both the VFW and the American Legion, but not the DAV. Is one any better than the others?

American Legion is capable of helping you like DAV, pretty much up 2 you which one you feel can help you better than the other

Not to steal the thread but this "DAV" thing everyone is talking about- I went to the website, what does DAV stand for? Also, do you have to be a member with them to get assistance? The membership was $250 and that is a lot. I'm only 2 weeks out from my "unfit" finding. When is an appropriate time to contact DAV ?

Disabled American Veterans....No you DO NOT need to be a memeber for them to help.

Mines took about 120 days
Yeah, that gives a little more hope in knowing that it will be complete by the end of the month. I have been noticing how other members seems to have their claims closed from Seattle usually near the end of the month. Also, I was told to check my RAS when it comes out to see if they adjusted the DOD pay. I have noticed that the RAS usually is available on the next to the last week of the month usually on a Friday or Saturday. So, if my predictions are right, I should know by the 20th or the 21st whether or not my claim will be complete via the RAS adjustment. I'm over here strategizing-lol!

All depends on when VA sends in the info for the adjustment, they still haven't recieved mines and I've had ratings for couple weeks

Does that mean that you are getting both payments from DOD and VA still?

Congrats on your increase!

Thanks; it's only a matter of time until you receive your DoVA official ratings! :)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Yes unless VA gets it to dfas by the 20th I'll be getting the offset of both

I sent in the POA and called the VA and I still have no new information other than they get up to 120 days to finish the claim, which could be more or less depending on the complexity of the case. When I ask them if mine is complex they can't answer "because each case is different".

For those who know there percentages before they are finish, did you get it out of the VA or somewhere else. This could could be my new focus. Keep me occupied for the time being.
Later

Thank You, it worked! Claim closed yesterday!

Thank You All for the advice, wishes, feedback, and listening to my complaints of this drawn out process. My claim was closed-COMPLETED on yesterday. Someone must have put in some overtime! I will remain on the site to offer any assistance, no matter how minimal to others. Feeling so blessed!
