Seattle Regional VA Timelines:

Just sent in an IRIS query. I don't expect anything, but I wanted to make somebody do something, or at least feel like I did.

An interestingly positive perspective in my opinion! :)

To that extent, I submitted an IRIS inquiry on 29 Jul 13 then received a DoVA response on 8 Aug 13.

Unfortunately, the information received didn't change from what I received from my PEBLO. But, the good news is that a received another official validation that my one-time VARR request memorandum was received at the Seattle DoVA Regional Office.

Moreover, the "request for VARR is under review for appropriate action once the RO has made a determination the IDES/PEB will be notified" as stated within the DoVA response to the IRIS inquiry previously submitted. :D

With that all said, for me, no worries...it's all good at this point in time. ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

What is the IRIS Inquiry? Can this be done for personnel in the IDES system?

Im surprised the just didnt defer it until they finalize your ratings post retirement!

Is you knee a secondary condition to a condition you was referred for?

Me personally with my claim they wanted better quality pictures of my scars but instead of holding my claim hostage any longer they just deferred my scars and sent off my proposed rating

Then after i retired i sent them the pictures they need for the completion of my final rating ( which ive been waiting almost 5 months for)

Yes it is a secondary condition. Im almost wondering if they decided that they needed it after they got my congressional since I sat in the prep for decision phase from 30 Apr until yesterday when they decided they needed. Hopefully mine ends up being the same as yours and nothing had hit what the peblo could see this am and the MSC just didnt want to tell me. He did say he would keep an eye on it and to call back next week and that they may have gotten what they needed already. Keeping my fingers crossed that this may all be over shortly.

Yes it can be done for people in the IDES process. From my experience its like calling the 800 number via email. The two I have done didn't really tell me anything.

Thank you, helpful tool when PEBLO's ignore e-mails, or you can't get through the 1-800 number because it is busy. As always patience is awesome but being proactive in my own process is better. :)

4 June 2013 command notified
29 June 2013 finishes last QTC appointment
18 July 2013 received narsum
23 July 2013 signed narsum
24 July 2013 counseled by peblo
06 Aug 2013 found unfit packet it sent to VA

Now it is just a waiting game, hope it soon anyone has a idea

I understand completely I finally got my PEBLO to answer his phone today after leaving voice mails and sending emails. Eventually patience goes away.

Yes, IDES participants and Veterans can use the below website to check on status for claims with the DoVA:

https://iris.custhelp.com/app/ask/session/L3RpbWUvMTM3NjQyNzA0MS9zaWQveHZrOXRIeGw%3D

Moreover, the VBA employee (VSR) working that case has 5 business days to respond with a real answer on VA claims and other processing within the VBA. The person answering the 800#, cannot always see what is really happening during the adjudication process and may not always be able to give the most accurate information.

To that extent, if there is a delay in the processing of a VA claim, it does bring that particular VA claim back to the attention of the VSR and can potentially make a difference on the time it takes to resolve. The IDES participant or Veteran decides on how the VARO contacts them, via mail, email or phone call.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Have you thought of just calling your PEBLO directly instead of sending emails or paying him a visit?

Yes conducting a IRIS message is similar to contacting the 1800#, even though it states they will give a response with 5 business days, it's mostly more than that!!

They VA rep responding to IRIS isnt the person rating ones claims, it's an employee from the VA who that sends a inquiry to whichever RO the claim is located on behalf of the VET who put in the IRIS, and then once they get a response the response is sent back to the VET via email, mail or phone

yea, Patience does go away, but I try to remember that my PEBLO works in a customer service based business, and being HR myself I know how it can be. I just do my best to be proactive and not sound like I am rushing in the e-mails. I have gotten on his case before about not answering e-mails or phone calls and we came a respectable understanding.

Have you thought of just calling your PEBLO directly instead of sending emails or paying him a visit?

Yes I have called and called and can't leave voicemail because the box is full. Even dropping by the office and being told my front desk that he is unavailable to see me. One of the first things my PEBLO told me in the initial counseling is that he doesn't answer phone calls or when Soldiers drop in. It is best to contact him via e-mail. I do my best to respect his workability. Even though it can be quite trying sometimes.

If i was you id contact his supervisor

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Well, the official published DoD IDES timeline states 295 calendar days for Active Component (AC) members and 305 calendar days for Reserve Component (RC) members, but nowadays the timeline is extended due to a large volume of VA case files which created a backlog of DoVA disability claims.

To that extent, the DoVA is continuing to implement several initiatives to meet the Department’s goal to eliminate the claims backlog in 2015. As a result of these initiatives, DoVA’s total claims inventory has dropped to its lowest levels since March 2011. The number of claims in the DoVA backlog (e.g., claims pending more than 125 days) has been reduced by 18 percent as compared to the highest point in March 2013.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Logged on to Ebennies today and my claim has moved to pending decision approval. So.

June 7, 2013 - Pending Decision Approval, Estimated Claim completion date 06/18/2013 to 07/06/2013
May 9, 2013 - received DD214
Apr 15, 2013 - Med RET list
Apr 14, 2013 - last day in service
Dec 31, 2012 - proposed raiting
June 29, 2012 - claim recieved
Was your claim ever completed by the estimated due date you were given?

UPDATE#2:

Albeit the eBenefits web-based application is primarily designed for use by military disabled veterans, after nearly a 4.5 month wait within the DoD IDES process, a Compensation and Pension (C&P) claim status was finally updated on open claims.

As of 13 August 2013, eBenefits display a C&P claim status process update of "Pending Decision Approval" versus the previous status of "gathering of evidence" which was displayed for nearly 4.5 months.

To that extent, the DoVA D-RAS has re-started their evaluation review of my DoVA disability claim (e.g., PEB-referred unfitting conditions only) via the Decision Review Officer (DRO) currently reviewing my VARR request memorandum with supporting documentation. ;)

That said, more to follow upon the receipt of additional information; I am getting closer and closer to the end of the DoD IDES process! :)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

I was told that Seattle has been speeding up their rating process this month.

Hopefully, your source of information is somewhat accurate so I can potentially receive my VARR request results by the end of THIS month; it would be nice! ;)
