so I'm 70 DOD and 70 VA. The newest LES on mypay says $0.00 is my next DOD check. Social security is sending me for a mental status exam and physical exam before deciding my claim. Called VA and they said my claim is estimated to be completed in September. I though IDES process was supposed to make it so that you didn't have to go so long incomeless :-(

You'll get 70% of your high 36 from DFAS until VA DC starts. If you have issues call 1-800-231-1080. You should see your retiree account in DFAS, along with a letter explaining how much you'll rate called "Verification of Pay Letter"

If you sold leave you may get it on the 15th, if Navy Fed you may see it pending already.

I 100% agree with the above pointers.

Upload your DD214 to the second claim the VA opened.

Great info to know! My VSO told me to be prepared to wait 2 months after my separation to get a check.

I have the same issue here. I have seen a friend that got out a month before me, he got paid the following month after he got out and I have my second claim open with preparation for decision. I called the VA and they told me my estimated date is June. I reminded them that I got out on IDES but they told me that is what they have on file. I don't know who else to call. It's frustrating.

So it looks like your last day in the military was about 3 weeks ago. So your service held your last check pending an audit of your financial records. Your finance office should have told you it can take up to a few weeks before you get your last check. Make sure you've uploaded your DD 214 (as stated above) to eBenefits. While the VA claim finalizes you should receive your first retirement (DoD) check on 1 Apr 17. Sometime between now and then you should also receive your last military paycheck. After the VA claim finalizes and DFAS does their audit they'll get your payment straightened out, it will take some time though.

Thanks everyone for the tips I'm taking your advice and hope it works out soon

Do not stress on the $0.00 LES.

Compare it to the previous LES and more than likely it is just an adjustment of leave or something else. You should be able to read in the remarks section why they issued the LES.

DFAS will pay you.

Also do not stress on the VA, once they get your DD214 they will finalize your claim. It typically takes less than 30 days, but I have seen some take as much as 60.

Your timeline shows your last Navy day on the 25th of February. Your VA award date will be March 1st, therefore the soonest you will see $$ from them is on April 1st.

DFAS is probably not going to pay any retirement until they see the finalized ratings from the VA, that way they can calculate the offset correctly (if they do pay retirement, it will most likley not be until April 1st that you see any $$ because the month will be paid in arrears.)

This is very important and I would like to encourage you to seek out the VA as soon as possible and request to be treated by a behavioral health provider in the women's health department. They will be able to address any concerns and issues that will arise during your transition to veteran status and specialize in all of the stressors that were present during your time in the Navy.

If it is too difficult to go to work post transition, perhaps you may want to request a PTSD ratings increase with the support of the doctors that you will be seeing, or perhaps applying for individual unemployability (IU).

70% of your high three is not going to go very far each month (just over $1300 of that will be tax fee because of the VA offset).

If you are able to either get rated at 100% or IU, you would be looking at about $3000 a month tax free. If you apply right away (or within one year of getting off of active duty) the new claim will be effective on Feb. 26th (you may get back pay if the award is given).

I'm in the same boat. Retired February 27th and started school march 4th.

Haven't had any income and I'm a single parent. I'm getting very nervous as my income tax flew out my bank account.

You may have to be assertive and call both VA and DFAS. I had to. It took me about 2 months to get paid by VA and 3 months DFAS.

Everyone knowing they are getting out should plan for worst case. I know this isn't always possible. I had to deal with no income for 2 months but luckily I had several other sources, my wife's income, paid for my final DITY move, and income tax return of about 8k. It was enough
But barely, my father died on my final day of service and I had to foot the 4K burial expense out of pocket. I also had to help his widow with money for 3
Months until she got paid DIC.

It's tough out there...

My DoD pay came about 3 weeks after I got out. They told me it would be a few weeks. VA is waiting on the AF audit then they can complete my IDES claim.I already faxed my Dd214 to them

As mentioned above, held pay (while an audit is done, due to unresolved debts- sometimes this is erroneous, but, it could be repaid bonuses, educational benefits, CIF items, etc., withheld taxes, etc.) can account for a no pay due LES. But, also, as stated above, it could be an LES from a later time period than your last month of milpay, or it could be for leave.

Hope you get paid soon!
