What is advantage of applying for Tricare if you have VA Medical benefits for 100% permanent disability?

I retired out of San Antonio. Its one of the best VA's in the nation. Virginia (Hampton) is consistently rated one of the 3 worst ones. It was a night and day difference moving here from San Antonio.

VA is free but in my case not worth it. I’ve had to go to tricare to get meds that VA could not or would not provide, even simple meds such as blood pressure and cholesterol. Tricare is nice to have as a backup.

Thank you. I am telling people tricare is better than champva as well if you have dependents it covers more. were wrongfully discharged.
