Wait Time For Providence, RI

OK, So the IPEB only took 5 days to complete my package. I received my official ratings today. I am hoping someone can shed some light for me. I have heard on numerous occasions that if you have bilateral pes plans (flat feet) you should be getting 10% per foot. I only got 10% total for that. Has anyone seen anything different? Also, once I am out how long do I have to wait before I can resubmit medical documents for a higher rating? I was only given 10% for my hip, but I need a second surgery and need pain management. I have additional med docs for my hip, but don't want to wait the 3ish months for a ratings reconsideration before I get out, I want to be done now and just submit med docs after retirement. Any information would be great!!! Also, prior to the VA rounding I was at 94%, so any extra percentage would bump me to 100%

Congrats on your receipt from AFPC! I have yet to receive that phone call! As of Friday my PEBLO told me it had not even been checked in! Could your PEBLO tell you when the IPEB received it? 5 days is quick!

The VA verbally told my peblo about my ratings on friday 4 Apr, it was in their system electronically on 9 Apr, and my disposition is dated 11 Apr. Things went very fast, no one knows why though. I was at the VA for over 150 days, maybe they were making up lost time!

Congrats on receiving your findings! There is a clause with bilateral issues where 10 percent is supposed to be added, but I am not sure if it is included in pes plans. You could submit right after you begin receiving your stipend. Once the money comes in, start your increase claim. The deal is, as long as you submit within the first year, they will back date the payments from your EAS.
Thanks, I am waiting to speak with the IPEB lawyers, they are 2 buildings away from me on Randolph, and I am going to speak with my VA MSC tomorrow, I just want clarification.

My Peblos story is REAL different from most. I was told that i wouldn't receive an unfit memo until i got my proposed ratings. She won't notify anyone in my entire COC until she gets proposed ratings from IPEB because (RARELY) someone could be returned to full duty. The day i get my ratings is the same day i set my "up to 90 days out" separation/retirement date. I'm only taking enough for leave/permissive which = 60. So is the day i sign for my ratings gonna be my last day??? lol..I will go on leave as soon as i sign my proposed ratings... Somewhere in there i have to get orders to ship my stuff...:confused::confused::mad::confused::eek:

I got a similar email from my PEBLO today about the ratings/status. I asked about an "Unfit Memo" and he told me that he cannot see what condition(s) were unfitting. The only thing that he can see in the Veterans Tracking Application is that I was found unfit.

I believe that it could take up to 10 days or so for your new EAS to be processed in the applicable systems/admin department, but I think that if you allow for a little bit of processing time like that, maybe your last day could be 10 days after you sign your findings...

I was also told by peblo that retirement if warranted has to be a date set at the end of the month.

Indeed, this is a valid statement from your PEBLO; good deal! :)

To that extent, choosing a military disability retirement date closest to the end of the month but not the last day of the month allows for a more efficient military active duty pay to military retired pay transition.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes

Well i assume retirement pay only kicks after dd214 is received and final ratings. What's the smoothest and roughest timeline estimate on that lately?

In reference to military retirement pay, it should start immediately (e.g. within 30 calendar days) upon a military service member's departure from active duty.

As such, for DoVA disability compensation, I would say that your statement seems accurate in reference to the DD Form 214 and DoVA final ratings.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

FYI, while my case still says "gathering evidence" as of today it no longer states that evidence is past due, so hopefully that is a sign that my case is being actively worked. I'll call my VSO today to find out if so that's just another clue for others when theirs is stuck in evidence past due for 4 moths.

I am hoping that is the case. I called the VA yesterday and got a really long explanation that ended up telling me nothing. Other than the fact that it is waiting for ratings...if you can get word from someone else that would be great.

Jubs80 isn't that the greatest..Some take 30 seconds to tell you anything, others take 15 minutes to tell you nothing. One common denominator is the fact that YOU WILL get a different vague answer from everyone you talk to.

Just signed my AF Form 356, just waiting for orders, projected retirement ceremony date is 22 May

How long did your PEBLO say for orders? A week? 2?

Congratulations on signing your findings and finally having a date to look forward to! Hopefully Providence can start pushing through those cases and make it to where people aren't waiting 6 months to a year for ratings.

So i was told by the rep on the phone that for the packages to get ratings it was taking an average of 67 days but probably sooner than that from the date they put your package into the decision phase.

I had friends it only took them around 40 days and less. It took mine 120 days so nothing is exactly written in stone though mine was the average during the time I received my ratings. Now I'm working through the DAV because the VA has been sitting on my DD214 and acceptance letter for 2 months doing nothing. Shows the process doesn't just stop at receiving the ratings.

I was looking at the MMWR reports and it seems like Providence is on a solid positive trend in average pending times.

The question is, who's butt do you have to kiss to make that happen?
