Wait Time For Providence, RI

Twitch you pretty much just summed up every persons feelings here, you hit the nail on the head

I try, I am really frustrated by the lack of tracking or oversight of the entire process that the VA has gotten away with for decades, I know for a fact my ENTIRE file was sent digitally except for some test results that cannot be scanned, how an entity responsible for the health, welfare, morale programs of millions of veterans cannot track a file at this stage of the game is truly disgusting and should warrant an investigation into FWA or mis utilization/incompetence. I know we deal with "government work" all the time, but this organization really has taken the cake...........and lost it too.

I talked to my DAV rep yesterday and was told the VA confirmed receipt of my package on Dec 18th. This is confusing as they actually received it from the PEB on October 2nd? Can anyone explain this? Can't imagine that it would take them 2 months to confirm receipt of my package. Also, he said they haven't digitized my package yet, I thought they do this to all packages now?

if your package was sent paper, then it went to a mail room, sat there for a week or two, then went to an intake room, where is was triaged for "completeness", and then requests for medical information went out if needed, then it would be reviewed and assigned a rater, this is the "receiving" portion if I recall my 30 second brief from the va guy a year ago lol.

Wow! That's a lot of intake processes for the implementation of potential receiving errors on a non-digital DoVA claim file.

But, as the old saying goes unfortunately, “it is, what it is.”

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Got my findings back 30% DoD 100% VA. I'm kinda wondering about that 30% DoD but it is PDRL so I'm not too worried about it!

Indeed, congratulations on your recent receipt of PEB findings inclusive of DoD PDRL and DoVA proposed ratings! :)

To that extent, enjoy your forthcoming military disability retirement to include all post-military endeavors!

Grats, so about 135 days total at the VA for your findings? and the results to filters down to you.

There was a couple iffy things with the paperwork. I gave it over to the lawyer to be reviewed but they said don't bother with it for the DoD percentage. Maybe I was confused with how the DoD tallies how much is received because I thought it was more than VA once you hit 40% to 50%. The Peblo told me that it takes 2-3 months to receive VA once you are out? Is this true I thought it takes only the 30 days once you are released from service too be considered a Veteran.

Well the arguing percentages for DoD, is your call, if you have other conditions that could/should be deemed unfitting then you should fight. The pay is based off your top 3 and either your percentage or Length of service x2.5 whichever is higher. So if your A E-6 or 0-3 or higher it can be close once reaching the higher percentages.

The other things to consider are, DoD once out unless you contest it, never change ever. Va ratings are "safer" at 5 years but not secured until in place for 20 years, and can be dropped without examination in that time frame etc. just by sending you a letter and you not getting it/not contesting it.

Keep in mind pay wise, once you hit the door, under the VA kicks in which can take 4-6 months, you will be receiving your DoD rated pay. The higher your rating or LOSx2.5 of your "high 3" is the higher that amount will be up to 75%.

Personally speaking, IF I was at 50% or greater AND 100% VA, I would not contest anything DoD, unless a glaring error etc. was present, unless that difference was very significant. So if you have no other conditions that would be considered "unfitting", then you are probally safe just pressing, but if you had say a bad back and bad knees and they only rated the knees and back would give you 40% more etc. then I would fight at the FPEB to have those things added.

Again, I stress this, that is my personal take, only you can decide what is justice for you and what you feel comfortable with accepting.

I was about to simply accept it and be done with it. The peblo is the one who recommended I see the lawyer before signing

Well do you have any other conditions that could be unfitting? are you in a rush to get out? etc. etc.
I am alsmot at the point, where if they said I was 30/100 I would go myself, just because I know my conditions, know It would be very difficult for them to lower me etc. with a multitude of other conditions that would keep me well above 100% if properly rated.

But then again, I still believe in justice and justice is accurate ratings properly assigned to the proper conditions. anything less is an injustice that should be corrected. it all boils down to your opinion and "fight left in ya"

I did have Flat Feet rated at 50% but I'm satisfied honestly. I hope this process gets better and more transparent.

see that would be my line, and make it more difficult, A highly rated flat foot condition like that, would be an "easy" FPEB for unfitness IMHO, and it would make your DoD rating 70% almost maxing your dod eligible percentage. If I were ready to be "done" I think I would have to pursue BCMR or PDBR after out to have it corrected at least for posterity sake. (submitted after your VA kicks in), 1 month for a FPEB of full pay and benefits unless less for you than the $3K or so 100% va rating could go a long way lol.

167 days at VA and I finally am at "Pending Decision Approval". I am so thankful to finally see some movement.

Wow, congrats...... I'm at 95 days still gathering

grats, hopefully thy end is neigh.

Spent another day in the hospital, with 3 more days bed rest and shots prescribed. I really am thinking Home awaiting orders is a strong option.

Mine got to them on 27 September looks like it's gonna be another freaking month!

Thanks. I know it is a long process and your time is coming. My unfit was 25 July 2013, I spent 135 days at Seattle before my packet was sent to Providence so I am just happy someone has actually looked at it at this point. Good luck and hopefully you are right and my end is neigh!

I would love to know what is going on in Providence. Their average days pending went from 80-90 days a few months ago to 128days as of last Monday.
