Jason,

I have a question, when the range of motion was taken on my ankle the Physical Therapist wrote

“ Left Ankle:
Ankle Motion: Value
Active Dorsifexion- -4 degrees
patient was 4 degrees into plantar-
Flexion – does not reach neutral
Active plantar flexion 73, 75, 75 degrees
Active inversion 28,30 30 degrees
Active eversion 18, 21 20 degrees”

I don’t really have a problem with my ankle, I had a 45 plate fall on my foot while we were moving gym equipment on the ship. My foot was crushed and is significantly larger than the other now. I have to wear two sizes of shoes to be comfortable. Also, there’s no longer an arch on the crushed foot and the pad hurts after awhile. There’s an obvious deformity. I also have pain [for example] while driving a stick shift and need a padding to help take pressure of the pad of the foot.

From what I can tell my Ankle has no rating. Does this affect my foot? Is that separate or would it be considered “pyramiding.” They we’re supposed to get the range of motion for my foot I have no idea why they did the ankle.

I'm confused. Why does it seem the less the ankle moves, the less the rating? I have a talocalcaneal coalition (analogous to subtalar ankylosis?)
Dorsiflexion: 0-15*
Plantarflexion: 0-25*
Inversion: 0-1*
Eversion: 0-1*

Also, what's the difference in "Ankylosis of the Ankle" and 'Ankylosis of the Tarsal Joint"? Aren't the tarsal joints part of the ankle? Why the difference in the rating? I also have Osteoarthritis, Tendonitis (not ratable?) with associated sclerosis and narrowed Sinus Tarsi. Any guesses on rating?

I'm confused about this also.... what does plantar flexion at more than 40 degrees mean? I looked at the graphics, but cant figure it out. My range of motion is limited in my ankle, so why would the rating be less for "flexion less than 30?"
