VA Turnaround?

I found out Friday that my PEB findings were sent to the VA. My PEBLO said that when he looked into the system that my paperwork was stamped 30 Aug from AFPC but didn't look like it was received by the VA yet. Not sure what that means entirely but my PEBLO assured me it should be fairly quick to hear something back. My eBenefits has shown my C&P status in "Review of Evidence" status for months now (since before my package was evening up to AFPC again) and it changed from Balitmore to Providence about a month and half ago when my paper was still awaiting a decision from the PEB. Does anyone have any ideas about how long it takes to get the ratings back to AFPC and get the final disposition??? I've been officially undergoing my MEB since the very beginning of Feb 2012. I'm just praying I get an answer back soon because I was recommended to have another operation but AFPC told my PEBLO if I did it before I received my final disposition, they would recall my case and make me start all over.

Hey, we have very close timelines. My MEB started in Febuary as well. VA finished my proposed ratings on 30Aug12 and I receievd them back from the PEBLO on 11SEP12. :) I signed them that night and returned them back to him the next day. I am currently awaiting my exit interview from the VA and awaiting my final sep orders. I opted for a separation date of 25Oct12. I am extremely happy and relieved to be getting out. Like you, I am awaiting surgery as well. :/ This has been such a long, stressful process...I am just spent. Good luck with everything. I think you should be hearing something very soon.
 
p.s...I also went through Rhode Island. And for those watching ebenefits closely. I am still sitting in the "In Review" phase and have not moved since may. :/
 
Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Been busy since we have an ORI coming up. After eBenefits did it's update over the weekend, my status changed to "Prep for decision". After consulting with a fellow member who just finished their MEB, they told me once their status changed, they heard back from AFPC with the final disposition 3 weeks later. I'm praying for something soon. Oh and I called my PEBLO last week to ask a quick question and found out he was on leave. So I talked to the other PEBLO who works with him and she told me that if I call the VA, they will notify AFPC and AFPC will e-mail her wanting to know why I called. I honestly believe this is complete BS because the VA doesn't even answer their own phone and I doubt they have time to call and tattle on us for calling. I just can't believe all the crap we get for asking questions. This is our career and our life. How do you expect us to sit by and just wait for something to happen? If it wasn't for me calling, my case would probably be missing still from when I did my C&P exams in Sacramento.

How long did it take for you to hear back on your ratings after the unfit letter was forwarded to the VA?

Not encouraging.:( My package was sent from the Baltimore VA to the RI VA when they received my unfit memo from the PEB (however, I'm in Prep for Decision phase on Ebenefits). Hopefully they work quick.

Where are you at? I went to Sacramento too. i'm overseas in Japan. Mine changed this weekend too. After my package got lost to AFPC. BTW fedex showed it delivered. LOL

Mine was moved from Baltimore to Providence before my PEB decision was sent to the VA. At least that is what I gathered from checking eBenefits prior to knowing I was found unfit.
 
So I called the VA to see if I could get any information and the guy told me he can't discuss any information with me because I'm still active duty. Any one told this before?
I waited on hold for an hour for that. =(
 
I've been told the same bs line before myself. Just one of many pre-canned lines from VA reps. What that translates to is "I don't have the time or desire to help you". I sent off a PoA to DAV a couple of days ago...they can actually look into the VA system and give you exact details on your package (where it's been, where it's at, what their waiting on, etc.) as long as they have a PoA from you. Look up form 21-22 on Google, print it out, fill in in and get it to your local DAV, American Legion, etc. I'm hoping it works for me, and I'll post my results as they occur.
 
Sometimes just a visit to your local DAV, Legion, or VFW, and they will assist you in completing the paperwork.This includes the initial PoA paperwork. Sometime ago, while I was stationed at WRAMC for my MEB/PEB, we had an on site DAV rep to file help file VA claims for those SMs that wanted to use the DAV. It was one of the best resources available to us. Still use the DAV to this day, as needed.
 
I was told by my Peblo, they have to send my packet to the IDES Cordinator, before I get to review it. I found out today, the IDES Cordinator is located in our Hospital here at FT. Carson.

I'm in Okinawa so I don't have or know of any DAV, etc. here. I looked it up online and that would be my only bet. I'm just wondering if I should wait it out or try to get a hold of a DAV in the states to help me. I asked my PEBLO to look at my case since he has a login for the VA system and he never got back to me or he ignores that I asked. I called the VA rep here on island (we have one working out of the Family Readiness Center) and she said she didn't have access to anything back in the states. But I have a meeting with her at 1400 today to see if I can get some answers or help some how. (it's Friday monring here now)
 
IMHO, I would not wait. I would fill out the PoA. Find out which VA Regional Office is rating your case (optional:where your VA Regional Office is located), and then contact the DAV in that area. Get their fax number, and submit the PoA.

your local VA rep can't help you. and the VA won't give you numbers info but they can tell you where your in the process. it might be still waiting but keep on them and call feq. you can get different people each time and other have more info then others. Also don't forget about your MSC. my PEBLO gave me a list of numbers if you didn't get it ask for that. If you want anymore info you can call me. I'm in Misawa and can answer some more of your questions

Thank you. My peblo is new and he is still learning the process. The civilian lady who works with him told me I'm not "allowed" to call the VA. So I don't expect any help from them. All I asked the VA rep was where my case was at and if they made the decision on ratings yet. All he said he could tell me was that the claim was open. I wanted to be a smart a$$ but I know he is just saying what he has to. What do you mean by MSC? I don't think I've been around this site enough to translate that one.

What are they going to do if you do call the VA? I guess the better question is what are they allowed to do if you call the VA? Absolutely nothing, aside from getting pissy, stomping their feet and taking their toys and going home.:mad: I have heard a few other members being told this lately, and it seems more like a scare tactic to me because it has the potential to highlight that a PEBLO or MSC isn't doing their job.:eek: You can (and should) use all the resources available to vector your career/life...up to, including and not limited to calling the VA. I do it every week and I'm still alive.;)


(I know, 3 emoticons...over the top a bit, but I hate to hear sm's being told this bs.)

Disclaimer: I'm not recommending that anybody burn their bridges, think and be smart about how/when you uses your resources and consider how doing so could negatively affect your situation.
