VA Ratings Letter

In the process of clearing post. Final out next week - VA reps here told me to bring in my DD 214 so they could finalize my case.

My main question is - how long does it take to receive the ratings letter from the VA once your DD 214 is turned into the VA? My wife and I are trying to buy a house and would like to save some money on our VA home loan by not having to pay the funding fee since I am rated at 60%.

Thanks!

There is a process where you can get a letter from the VA stating your rating will be no less than a certain percent. This letter facilitates getting VA and other benefits started while awaiting the final ratings.

Mike,
how do I ask for the letter. Is there a template. I want to start applying for jobs with the government but I need to prove my VA disability status for some of the human resource managers I will be dealing with. By the way, awaiting my DA199 and NARSUM now for two weeks. When I get it, I will send you a copy.

I'm 60% disabled veteran and I just bought a home (first home) using my VA Loan. The funding fee is *WAIVED* if your disability if >=30%. Absolutely *ZERO* down payment with VA Home Loan program. Your loan officer should be able to pull yoru cert of elibility via VA portal. You just have to sign the consent for them to pull your cert of eligibility. Go with USAA Mortgage program, though its pain but they offer great rates. I got my house at 4.7%. Good Luck!!!

Never ever use USAA mortgage company, hell I would use an italian named no lips larry, who knows a guy, before i would ever use USAA. Worse experience in my life using them. Google it and see.

Has anybody had any luck with getting ahold of this? If anyone has a link or a phone number that would be great. Thank you all in advance!

Call the VA 1-800 number or send the question to the VA via an VA IRIS request. This infomation is on the VA website.

Thank you sir. I did find an avenue throught ebenefits.va.gov that looks really helpful. Youre supposed to be able to get instant access to a premier account using your cac card however, it doesnt work for me. It looks like its worth it for anyone trying to get info on their va status.
