VA FINAL RATINGS

Well, this is my first post to this site... I have been reading and researching on here for the past few years... I am TRDL at 70% and 100% from the VA. I retired Feb 28th 2013. its been 3 months now since I retired and I have yet to hear anything from the VA. Ebenefits still sais gathering evidence and it has been like that for almost 6 months now.

since Feb 28th I have not gotten my final ratings yet. I would like to know where and when I will finally hear something. my car is about to be repossessed.

Have you contacted a DAV rep?

Are you recieving unemployment or SSDI or possibly job searching, would hate to see you lose your vehicle but the wait on your ratings being finalized could be some time from what I've heard and seen

The time frame I hear most common is 120 days - 180 days (some are still sooner and some are still later).

I retired under legacy and filed a BDD 18 Sept 2013 and received my Completed VA Ratings 17 Jan 2013,
but they were dated 7 JAN 2013.

Your probably close...
Have You Contacted OPERATION HOMEHRONT, they may be able to assist you... with a car payment or two till your VA Claim comes through.
Do you know if your DOD retirement pay is greater than you VA Compensation?
Will you be eligible for CRSC?

What branch are you?. I know in the Army, AER helps retirees with avoiding repos. I am pretty sure every other service agency has something similar.

Are you not getting your military retirement? That should be keeping you afloat. When did your terminal leave end?

The VA is going to take from one to a few months from the day terminal leave is over and you are officially retired. You will see a new ebenefits case open the day after the official discharge. It then takes additional time to get you final ratings and pay you.

Ranger does that apply only to retirements or is that also with medical separations with the VA...essentially do they base it off of retirement or separation or are we all in one big pot waiting?

It really applies to all if your asking about time lines for your VA Formal Ratings and VA Comp to kick on...

Negative, when it comes to the first payment of retirement pay you can recieve payment withing a few days of DFAS establishing his/her account, it doesn't have to be on the first

The DFAS rep I spoke with today informed me with the given info

That is correct. I received my pay on the 15th of the month. Well I got my retro payment then got the payment starting on the 1st of the next month.

so just a FYI update, 80% DOD, 100%VA, fully retired 25DEC12, claim started over 13DEC12, to date no EB change, still on step 4. 15 claims out of Seattle. Who knows when it will ever be completed, but hey at least our country cares for its vets right, happy memorial day

Thanks.....good to know it is all still a hurry up and wait process....I have learned to not count my chickens before they hatch....

So, how many of you are already done and received your final ratings? How long post separation/retirement did your final ratings come in? Did anything show up on e-benefits? Did you get anything from mypay?

DWF I just got out as of the 14th of May....I don't expect the VA to move with any sort of speed at all....I was just surprised today with a bill from them for 80 bucks for medication....I don't know what the heck is going on with them I thought I was in a different priority group and was not informed that there was a copay for medications. At any rate it isn't like I have very many pennies to rub together at the moment any way since DFAS is holding my pay and severance hostage :)

Do you have an OIF/OEF coordinator? IF so, take the copay bill to them and have them fix it. You fall into a higher priority group for your first five years based on service there. That will get you by until you have final ratings and you will fall into priority group one and have no copays no matter how much you make.

I was told until your proposed ratings are finalized when you visit the VA they will send copay bill n the mail unless you take the means test

I heard about that and the pharmacy said something about going to main area and doing that. I read the paperwork that I filled out when I enrolled and because I was getting out of the military on medical separation it said I didn't have to fill it out. So I guess it was a miscommunication on my part as well as theirs. It would have been nice to know that they charge you for every thirty day perscription and every time I have an appointment lately I am getting more pills. I think I should build a personal pharmacy in my house....oh well I know now and I will just pay it when I can and know better next time. Thanks for the info from everyone :)

Anyone know who I can contact at the VA as far as getting my prescriptions refilled that was given to me while on AD, my PCM on Bragg gave me enough to last me through terminal leave and know I'm empty.

This is why the OEF/OIF Coordinator is so important. I started using the VA while on terminal leave and was still collecting full CW2 pay. I never had a copay. The whole purpose in life of this coordinater is to ensure the OEF/OIF vets get everything they need from the VA

When I went to my first appointment that's who explained that to me when I was filling out the paperwork to get reimbursed for my travel to the VA

On a broader scope, this is excellent news; thanks ranger2992! :)

Moreover, I shall definitely load this information into my 'brain housing group" for future use during forthcoming Army transition leave; hopefully I can retain the information. ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

And why has they let the copay hit? They should be able to look at your proposed ratings and see you will not be in a copay priority group.
