VA FINAL RATINGS

Negative, when it comes to the first payment of retirement pay you can recieve payment withing a few days of DFAS establishing his/her account, it doesn't have to be on the first

The DFAS rep I spoke with today informed me with the given info

Partial Pays equal to 1 day in April, any leave sold back, any other accounting pay like unpaid uniform allowance. YES
Retirement Pay is issued on the 1st of every month. (unless you request any emergency pay because of special circumstance or hardship. The do not randomly issue retirement checks;)

Yes I understand that retirement pay is issued the 1st of every month, but when it comes to the FIRST RETIREMENT PAYMENT, it can be issued within days of DFAS establishing a retiree RETIREMENT ACCOUNT

Ok, mine took four months and they issued a special payment 3 days before Christmas.

I requested an accounting of my retired pay this week... they have been underpaying me since Sept 2012
and sent me an email stating so today. I stopped believing what they say when they told me it wasn't their fault...
The Army Physical Disabilities Branch called me earlier today and told me they (DFAS) read the papers submitted
wrong from Army PDB and the Transitions Branch...

They even gave me a claims # for back pay so I can check on it... :)

I retired Feb 25, 2013 and I will get paid starting June 1, 2013. The average is 3 to 4 months.

Unless you have factual info supporting 3 to 4 month average you shouldn't say because most get paid withing 1-2 months post retirement

In the last 3 months, I have been involved with over 300 veterans of all branches, and only a handful have been in less than 3 months. I have friends that are high up in the ladder with the VA system across the country and they tell me that the VA is jammed in 90% of its facilities. There are only a handful of systems that move faster, Hawaii and Alaska happen to be a few. Unlike most of the guys on the site, I don't make what ifs and wishes, I have a Masters in Criminal Justice, work for the Government currently, and have a few buds in High Structure of the VA. I give sound advice, only facts. I question people with opinions, but you cant question facts my friend. That is the biggest problem with this site, is that there are guys on here like you with opinions. Opinions don't get a guy paid, or take care of disabled veterans, facts that people like me provide sound information because we really care about people, is the reward that guys like us get in the end. Good luck to you, and I hope you don't give that bad advice to other guys, cause if you do, I will pray for them too. When I started this process almost two years ago, I took a lot of bad advice from guys with opinions and it caused me to be lost in the process. I got my stuff together, got educated, and went straight to the source, regulations, and laws. You can argue with those, that's for sure.

While you caught up in your feelings and being defensive my comment was towards retirement pay not VA pay!!!

Have a nice day and hope you didn't lose a meal typing a paragraph for no reason

I could definitely see the disconnect between y'all here.. Kiefer just misunderstood, nor harm no foul! Now we have a strong viewpoint of both timelines on the same thread haha.

At Times Like These, I am reminded of the many phones calls I have had and the numerous government agencies I have contacted over and over again... and Not Receiving Correct Information or Even The Same Information on any given day. ;)

Ranger I do base my comments on here on Laws and facts. That is the problem that I have with most guys on here. They give out false hopes to a lot of guys beginning the process who don't know anything. I am tired of seeing good deserving veterans get bad info that only delays their cases, or screws them out of money that they deserve. Just take a look at how many points, and people who have liked my comments. That tells what kind of man I am. I went back, and in hundreds of comments, I found 2 that stated what you are talking about my Degree, and friends in the VA. Point proven, that again guys on here lie, instead of stating facts. I don't know what you guys get out of giving false info, or flat out lies. It makes me wonder if people lie about little things, what happens with major issues in life. I wish all of you the best, but man, I may be 100% disabled but I work and do something with my life, instead of sitting around the house, wondering the next lie to post on here, or tell some unknowing veteran. God Bless You.

NDBraveheart, Thank you so much for the like. You are correct my friend, and I wish you the best. We all get what we deserve at the end of this whole process, just wish they would make it easier for deserving guys like us. God Bless you and wish you the best. Have a good weekend.

Seriously? That is what you get out of that comment? You go back and review the likes you received? Then you spend the remainder of your post telling people that they are spreading lies? That is what you got out of that post. Funny thing is, I am pretty sure you were very grateful for advise given to you when you first arrived here. I am pretty sure some of it came from me.

This discussion in a public area is now officially over. If you want to talk about it further, do it in private messages with me.

Wow, a misunderstanding turned into a keifer bashing, I'm pretty sure he has some good advice but me personally I believe unless you have hard evidence that you can use to back up what you feel are fact then it's really just an opinions, and him saying he has came across 300 vets is only a small % compared to the true numbers so I don't think he should base his opinion on small numbers

My comment was referred to Retirement pay not VA pay, so when he thought my comment was towards VA pay he felt the need to bash me

We are all grown men and have the ability to think for ourselves so regardless of what opinions or info is given on this site whether good or bad, we are making the decision to run with it

To be honest, you sort of come across as really bashing this site and the members on this site that are simply doing what they can to try to help. You seem to forget that you are on a public forum and no matter what you claim as your credibility, the next guy can claim more. Honestly, having buddies that are experts and have high ranking positions in the VA make you no more of an expert than me. Having a college degree, while that is definitely an accomplishment, you still forget this is a web forum and anyone can say they have anything or are anyone. Just typing something on a web forum does not make it true.
Now if you really do care so much about the veterans and wish to contribute your knowledge or opinions in a constructive manner, then, I would love to see you stick around and posting much more often. But, if you can't handle just that, and feel the need to bash members or find ways to make yourself feel more important than anyone else on here. I suggest you carry on smartly. There are plenty of other forums out there that would love to have you.

This thread needs to get back on topic. If not, it is going to get moderated. I will start the moderation by deleting my comment from earlier today. As I said a few minutes ago, feel free to contact me via messages should you have any further questions.

You will receive a big brown envelope in the mail (USPS) with your final ratings package and information on benefits available to you. Keep an eye on your mailbox...when I was waiting, I would beat my wife to the mailbox everyday until the ratings came in!:D

Huh... I never got anything from the VA after the final ratings were done back in Feb 2013... I ended up having to go to e-bennies this week when my letter was finally posted and print it off... Hell I never even got the preliminary ratings until I saw the 199... Something fishy is going on here...

Wow, interesting reading within this thread indeed! ;)

Moreover, I have a long wait until receipt of my DoVA final ratings.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

I'm guessing I have another 1-2 month wait before getting my final ratings

Well, this is my first post to this site... I have been reading and researching on here for the past few years... I am TRDL at 70% and 100% from the VA. I retired Feb 28th 2013. its been 3 months now since I retired and I have yet to hear anything from the VA. Ebenefits still sais gathering evidence and it has been like that for almost 6 months now.

since Feb 28th I have not gotten my final ratings yet. I would like to know where and when I will finally hear something. my car is about to be repossessed.
