VA FINAL RATINGS

My MEB/PEB was done Jan 2013. I was medically retired March 2013. I know they said it takes about 2-3 months for final ratings. I wanted to see how many around my time frame has seen any movement on their ebenefits. Mine still says gathering evidence. I have all my documents (DD214, Dependent info, bank deposit info). I hope to see something soon. You call the VA toll free number and all you get it is, process takes up to a year. Nothing more said. Your proposal was done but the final ratings are not done. My exam is over a year old and wondering do I have to re-do the exam to get the final ratings. I have not been notified. So I am going close to three months now.

From experience post-retirement...DO NOT TRUST EBENEFITS! I have had my final ratings, already getting paid DoD pay and VA pay, and Ebenefits is still in "claim received" stage.

Thanks, did they call or mail something to you. Did you find out through the calling the Toll Free number. I was told as long as all the paperwork is received, that it should not be much longer. I just do not want to keep calling and getting more frustrated.

You will receive a big brown envelope in the mail (USPS) with your final ratings package and information on benefits available to you. Keep an eye on your mailbox...when I was waiting, I would beat my wife to the mailbox everyday until the ratings came in!:D

One point of interest that I can pass to you is to reconfirm that the VA received your dependent information now, rather than waiting. Overall, I filled out the form and turned in all the documents three times, and they still paid me as a single vet and had me resubmit.

ok thanks, so if i retired March 21, what month you think i might see it. Cant wait, along with social security waiting for the their final decision too. I was told by my analyst that the packet came back from the DR and it was good i called today. Than he said by law i can not tell you the results. Keep his number for future use. Last week he told me he feels its good now i feel its not. I have mental conditions that require me to be at group every day its a partial hospital program. I lost my unemployment benefits since the Army decided to tell California i was disabled veteran. So i explained i can look for work after the group but they ended up stopping my benefits anyway.

My finalized ratings took about 2 months after I retired. I received my first VA payment about a month later- so about three months from retirement to first VA check.

For me: I started the MEB/PEB July 2011, got medically retired Dec 2012. I am still waiting on VA to send me my final ratings. I have called tons of times and they say the same thing. Wait lol. Ebenifits is a good site but sometimes behind a little. Mine said the other day it was completed. I called Va and it was done the day it says. I know its not always right but a lot of times it is. That was May 7th. I still have not got the letter in the mail but im sure it will be soon. There are a lot of people on here that are helpful and some that talk based on what they have heard. There is no time line for VA to finish your stuff. Many people will argue this, but My time line for a PEB and for ratings after discharge proves different. Oh and I am PDRL. Hope this helps and keep your head up it will come and hopefully sooner then mine. Good luck

Me (at least, I try to be helpful)

Not me, unless I state in the reply "from what I have heard/read". I am the only person that has posted in this thread to the op's questions, and I speak from my actual experience...YMMV:cool: As for VA timelines, it is correct that time to receive finalized ratings aren't written stone, but there is an average that most of us went/go by in this process.

I am patiently waiting and really hope something shows up in the next couple of weeks. I get my retirement but not much. My social security decision is almost completed. I am really nervous and hope something happens soon. The bills are piling up fast.

Hang in there. If you get to the point where your bills are late/overdue, contact the creditor and let them know what is going on. Most will work with you as long as you keep in touch with them and they know you have a plan of action to pay them.

Retired 25DEC12, still no final ratings, Seattle is my processing site. I think it is the slowest off all.

Remember that the service aid societies are still available for anybody that retired. If you get in a hole, use it. That is what it is there for. In the Army, it's AER. I am not sure about the other services.

As far as final ratings, mine took took four months from the day my terminal leave ended and I retired.

I retired on 29 April 2013 but gave my VA MSC my DD 214 as soon as I received it. Called the VA on more than one occasion :( and was given could take from 9 to 12 months to complete my case. This is a DES case. DFAS Cleveland has not provided much more insight on this as well. The latest is that I might not get paid unitl 1 JULY. Double YIKES!! I try to remain optimistic that DFAS and VA will finish their portions sooner than later.

You should receive your DoD check on June 1. Contact DFAS and ask if they have built a "pay file" on you yet and, if not, request that they do asap so you can get paid on the first. VA usually finalizes and starts a month or two after DFAS.

Mine was through Seattle also. Retired 28Dec2012. But I started the process 11July2011.... I just received my Va letter on 18May2013. So be patient it will come soon and remember the back pay all at once is nice. That is if you can make it without the money for now. Good luck and hope it goes through soon

I was not specifically talking about you. I was speaking in general terms. For people who are baracks lawyers. That say you will get this or this is the way it is. I have seen a lot of crap people are getting and bad advice they are passing along. I am just trying to help These other people when others are telling them stuff thats is not Facts. I dont know much about any of this but what I do know I pass along to try my best to help, But I never speak of anything I dont know for sure.

Thank You for your sacrifices and your service... usaf is correct about DOD pay...
unless you weren't input into the system by the 22nd of this month... then it would be 1 Jul 2013.

But because you are DES (Legacy) he may not be correct on VA depends on your circumstances.
Being Legacy I take it that you don't have your VA Rating yet but you have filed a claim?

Big Questions:
1. Have you completed your C&P exams yet?
2. Did you file a BDD, Quick Claim or Fast Track Claim?
3. How many items did you file for?
4. Do you feel the your case is complicated?

I totally missed that the op is Legacy. You are 100% correct, under Legacy specific circumstances come into play to a greater extent.

Negative, when it comes to the first payment of retirement pay you can recieve payment withing a few days of DFAS establishing his/her account, it doesn't have to be on the first

The DFAS rep I spoke with today informed me with the given info
