I will thoroughly read this report tomorrow morning - thank you very much for posting it. Hopefully, it is the Army's attempt at doing something other than throwing Percocet at everything.
Direct quote from the paper:
"Finally, the MHS care for Warriors is rooted in a military culture that praises selflessness, toughness, and willingness
to accept pain. “No pain, no gain” is a philosophy embraced by much of the Active Duty force and their leadership.
This attitude often causes delays in seeking treatment, as Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines attempt to work
through their pain and “tough it out.” This frequently results in relatively minor acute issues later becoming harder-tomanage
chronic conditions"
At least the Army is acknowledging it - I spent over two years "toughing it out" in an effort to earn promotion and not "look like a shit bag" for lack of better words. It was only by the efforts of my wife that I sought treatment.
Also of note is an article I read in USA Today several months ago in which LTG Fridovich speaks about the Army's lack of a comprehensive pain management plan. That article can be found here:

Thanks Chinook.
