ALCON,

Thanks to everyone on this forum. I’d like to throw my hat in the ring, and post my timeline.

Pre MEB/PEB:

9/2019- I checked myself into Balboa ER for a severe headache lasting 4 days and wasn’t getting better, even w/ otc meds. They ran a CT scan and found a tumor in my skull. Tumor was removed and ended up being malignant, osteosarcoma. They also found lesions in my brain that resembled Multiple Sclerosis, but that was put on the back burner due to the ‘cancer’. I started receiving chemo immediately, my command ended up giving me limdu orders to a NOSC close to my family in the Midwest. I continued my treatment at a civilian cancer center that specializes in sarcomas. That center came to the conclusion that the tumor was not malignant and they stopped my chemo. The Navy still officially considers it as an osteosarcoma. 11/2019- I started having severe shortness of breath and chest pain when I would take a deep breath, I checked myself into a civilian ER. Ended up having multiple bilateral PEs. Was put on a blood thinner for 9 months, this kept me limdu and at the NOSC. During this time I was getting looked at and examined for MS, and in July of 2020 I was diagnosed with MS.

MEB/PEB:

My MTF was/is James Lovell Federal Health Care Center. I have never been there, I deal w/ them virtually.

I was referred for MS, unstable malignant neoplasm of the skull, and the PEs.

7/2/20- Myself and my command are told it will take 2-3 days for my referral to be submitted. It took 4 1/2 months.

11/20/20- QTC starts scheduling my exams. I need 5, and the last one is 1/28/21.

~3/20/21- My PEBLO finally receives all the DBQs from QTC.

~4/1/21- NMA is requested from my CO.

4/20/21- NARSUM and MEB findings are sent to me, I accept. Sent to PEB.

4/22/21- PEB needs a reexamination of two of my clams due to confusing DBQs filled out by the general examiner. QTC schedules these exams for 5/20.

6/1/21– PEB resumes.

6/7/21- The VA website says my claim is closed.

6/14/21- My PEBLO sends me the PEB/VA findings. I’m given 60 DOD/ 80 VA, TDRL.

6/17/21- I accept and submit to my PEBLO.

I was told my separation will be ~90 days from my acceptance date, and I will find that date out in 2-3 weeks, through message traffic.

Thank you for sharing your story and for your service. Best wishes in the next chapter of life. You don’t mention the form of MS you have. Be aware that you can ask the VA to re-rate you if your symptoms worsen.

Do you feel the C&P examiner captured the essences of your symptom at heir worst correctly?

FHCC is who my mental health stuff was submitted. I have been contemplating submitting complaints.

Sorry for the late response, I had to get my MS re-examined b/c the original examiner said I didn’t have MS. The VA gave me a bunch of 10% ratings for my symptoms that added up to 60%. I didn’t appeal b/c I’m tdrl and will get re-examined. Might of a mistake, time will tell.

Glad you got a better percentage on re-examination
