DOD 70 TDRL, VA 90. Going to see the PEBLO tomorrow but a little unsure about the TDRL part because I have almost 23 yrs LOS. I didn't think they gave TDRL to folks that were retirement eligible.
Anyone know how that works?

Dont know how that works, but congratulations!

What is DRAS?

I was found unfit feb 2 still waiting for ratings!

Thanks! seemed like a long wait...
So, DRAS is the VA but more specifically its the office of the VA that handles the IDES cases.
So when you see a time line that says something about DRAS they mean really mean the VA. Because us active duty folks are kind of in a special category as far as the VA is concerned they send all of our stuff to a VA DES Rating Activity Site, which assigns a disability rating to each service member’s referred and claimed medical conditions

Indeed, congratulations on the recent receipt of your IPEB findings! :D

In reference to the DoD military TDRL, it is a list of military members found to be unfit for performance by the DoD IDES PEB of military duties by reason of physical disability which may be permanent, but which has not sufficiently stabilized to permit an accurate assessment of a permanent degree of disability at this point in time.

Moreover, the DoD military TDRL has a five year maximum time limitation that any individual can I remain on the DoD military TDRL. As such, the law requires that a final determination be made before the fifth anniversary of placement on the TDRL. However, you may be removed from TDRL at an earlier date whenever a periodic examination discloses that your medical condition has stabilized for military disability rating purposes.

Hence, it's very important to note that the law also directs the termination of military retired pay and all retiree benefits if a final determination is not made at the end of five years when placed onto the TDRL; this cannot be waived unfortunate!

In retrospect, I had a total of over 26+ years of military active duty LOS (albeit 32+ years of USA/USAR/USA civilian service in total) upon placement onto the DoD military TDRL in May 2014. On/about/in June 2016, I shall have my second DoD military TDRL re-evaluation examination for PTSD; I appealed the initial TDRL evaluation, appeal resulted in a denial decision therefore I was continued onto the TDRL for another 12 months. Take care!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer!"

Best Wishes!

Hey ya'll! I just have a quick question. I just found out today that once you receive your ratings it doesn't mean those are set in stone. Does anyone have any insight to share on this topic? Does this mean all though you signed and agreed to the ratings that they may possibly be lowered? What are the chances?

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Hmm, well, in reference to DoVA proposed ratings inclusive of the DoD proposed ratings while in the DoD IDES process then the answer would be yes.

As such, upon either medical retirement or medical separation from military service via the DoD IDES process and achieving military veteran status, then the DoVA D-RAS shall forward the DoVA official ratings documentation when completed.

Albeit, any DoVA proposed rating can change during the DoVA D-RAS' final review of the proposed ratings if new/additional medical evidence and/or medical documentation is available during their ratings adjudication process.

Fortunately, to date, I haven't read of anymore receiving "lowered" ratings from the DoVA D-RAS upon receipt of their DoD IDES-based DoVA official ratings documentation. Take care!

Congrats brother. Just FYSA I just received my EAS yesterday for 30 May. 1 week after signing so the back end is moving. After signing I called HQMC and talked to a motivated LCpl who said she will email me as soon as the PEB sent my index in and sure enough she did. at least I can plan accordingly. good luck

That's good to hear.. I knew those guys up there at MMSR-4 would get on it. I've always heard good things about that section. I hope you get a good severance check out of the deal! I have an appointment today with the attorney to discuss the non-combat related determination. I kind of figured that was going to happen after reading some of the other posts here about the same issue.
30 May is pretty darn quick considering 10 days of PTAD and possibly taking leave. I hope your command is GTG and allows you to be a ghost for the rest. If there is anything you need please reach out, I'll throw the little bit of weight I have around for you if you need it. It might be my last chance :)
