Therapist wants to refer to MEB, records question

Good evening,

I’m being referred for MH,to a meb Usmc.
I’m seeing a lot of advice about keeping my medical records updated, which makes sense. They need to review my history to make a judgment. However, the medical record that I have with the unit GAS/or BAS doesn’t have a whole lot (as far as I know). This is because I’ve been seeing a therapist and psychiatrist and i have a case manager and when I do my appointments, they take their notes I assume and we do our treatment plan. Is that something the MEB will be able to see, or am I in trouble with not having the BAS file updated.

How do I get my notes for my appointments to see what they have written about me and our meetings?

For me, I had to go to the medical records section at the main hospital on base and request those specifically. My regular records (everything but behavioral health) were a different request and were separated from my BH. For those I had to go to my clinic where I’m seen by my PCM. If you ask the representative helping you, they should tell you what you need to do for those records. Me personally, I had to wait 30 days and the request went to my behavioral health provider for approval to be released. Not sure if the standards are the same for every branch, every base, etc., but just ask and someone will point you in the right direction.

Alright, so I’ll make the request to the records department at the naval hospital if they have one, or I’ll just ask my therapist or case manager. I had a feeling they would be different, thank you!
 
You don’t need to go to medical records. When you get referred to a MEB or PEB, your doctors and case manager handle everything. When you’re referred to the PEB and you get a PEBLO, they’ll have access to all of your records from military installations and off base. Your doctor who writes your LIMDU paperwork will write a NARSUM (narrative summary) of your diagnosis and how it affects you etc. that, along with your medical records and the VA mental health exam and a Non-Medical Assessment from your command is what will be what the PEB uses to determine if you’re fit for continued service, and what the VA will use to rate your disability. My PEBLO said 99% of the time anyone who’s on a PEB for MH will be medically retired (30%+ rating for boarded condition). If you’ve been to the hospital or residential treatment it’s almost certain you’ll be found unfit. Take a look at the DBQ. Those are the questions they’ll be asking for your exam. I’m new to this forum but I was referred to MEB in Sep 2018, PEB package sent off Jan 31 2019 and it came back with my findings and ratings around April 15. EAS date posted about 10 days later. The way they determine EAS date if you’re found unfit is 20 days plus leave balance

If you have your physical medical record, you’ll notice there’s probably almost nothing in it. That’s because therapists/psychs use an electronic program to store all your notes on your treatment. When you get out, you have to make a special request on your medical record request form to have MH stuff put into your disc
