TERA while going through a MEDBOARD/IDES Process

I am currently at 18 years in the Marine Corps. I’ve started the MEDBOARD process at the very beginning. I understand that it’s a long process even though the Navy has their time window that they would like to meet. Obviously with COVID that timeline could be adjusted several times.

I have been offered two different jobs with starting pay equal (80-90k)to what I receive from the military. Quantico and Mississippi are the two locations. I understand the cost of living in Mississippi/Tennessee area is a lot more reasonable than it is in Quantico.

Looking for advice on whether or not as I go through this process if I make the right choice by taking TeRA only if I would rate both TERA and VA disability currently. Or would you push to 20 and potentially the company would move on.

Im not sure if you've received an answer to your question yet, but if you are found unfit you can waive the PEB results and retire under TERA at 19 (given it takes a year). I'm pretty sure the TERA MARADMIN was good until 2027. If you are found unfit with over 50% VA, retire under TERA, you would then be eligible for CRDP. You would then receive both your, lets say 47.5% DOD retirement due to TERA plus whatever your VA ends up.
