TDRL —-> Return To Duty

Hello, So I’ve been on TDRL for a bit and have been thinking about the possibility of returning to duty. If I am found fit at my exam will I really be able to return to duty because it seems like I’ve never seen this happen to anyone. What’s the likelihood of me actually being able to go back and getting through MEPs again and etc.

Also, where would I go? I had limdu orders to my last command while getting treated so would I go back there? Thanks
 
It's rare, like <1%, but it does happen. You get your RE code changed on your DD214, and that gives you the ability to go back through a recruiter. You don't go deal with your old command at all. You were *retired,* they have no ability to bring you back.

If I’d like to go back on active duty what could I do to increase my chances. Also is coming back almost like joining the military all over again do I have a say in where I go/what I do.
 
RTD happens. I had a junior enlisted member RTD after his second reevaluation.

I don't know about increasing chances. I am not a recruiter or anything like that. The biggest thing of course is getting your paperwork to reflect properly that you are 100% fit. Then I suppose, just applying some common sense, that if you have a specialty that is in demand, that would help you come back in. As far as doing paperwork and stuff all over again, my understanding is that it is considerably easier as long as you get past the medical hurdle. Obviously they aren't going to make you go through a bunch of the basic training and initial schools. I believe, though, at least for navy, that your first assignment coming back is needs of the navy. That is something you would absolutely have to check with the recruiting office, though.

What was the unfitting condition?
