I was placed on TDRL in 2015 rated 40% for lower back problems. I saw a doctor in Boston after I got out of the Army but was basically told outside of physical therapy and minor pain management (NSAIDS) it was just something I had to live with. Because of that I haven't been seeing any doctors for it and have just learned to live with the condition the way it is. How is this going to effect my TDRL evaluation? My back hasn't gotten better or worse, it has pretty much stayed the same. Am I going to be kicked from retirement because I haven't been seen by a doctor repeatedly? Thanks for any information.
I would say there is no chance you will be returned to AD. IF they lower your rating to 20% or below you will be removed from TDRL and moved to separation with severance. From my understanding it is your responsibility to keep the VA informed of your location. They should have been sending you requests to be seen about your condition. I would contact the VA and see if they have proof they tried contacting you regarding follow-ups.
I've been seen by my personal doctor but the VA has always been updated with my address. The women's clinic attempted to establish care with me but I was already seeing a private doctor. They didn't specifically contact me about care for my back though.
The only formal contact they've made is to let me know about my TDRL evaluation coming up. This was almost a year ago and I just got the call today saying I had an appointment. Nothing about my condition has been contacted about though.
