I wanted to share something that might help with AO claims. There’s a type of blood cancer called myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), and this is the first study to clearly connect the 2.
The study found that Vietnam War veterans exposed to AO have a higher risk of developing MDS, a rare blood and bone marrow cancer that can take decades to show up.
The research was done by doctors at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (University of Miami) and was presented at the 2025 American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting.
This new evidence could help veterans with MDS get VA benefits, since for years it was hard to prove the connection to their service.

I hope this helps someone!
