Stuck Between PDBR and Navy

Greetings All,

Just a bit curious if anyone has any other ideas where to go next.

January 5, 2020 I received the following email after submitting to the PDBR in 2017:

"Your case recently met the PDBR Board. The recommendation of the PDBR will be forwarded to the Secretary of the Navy’s Designated Decision Authority (DDA) for their final decision in your case.

Unfortunately, we have no control, or method to track the status of your case further once the Navy receives your case. Once a decision has been made in your case, you will be promptly notified.

We ask for your continued patience as your service’s DDA works to finalize your case. If you do not receive a decision in the next 180-days please send us an email and we will try and check on the status of your case.

Respectfully,

Physical Disability Board of Review"

I have since been in touch with Ms. Ann Jones and she has been unable to give me any updates at all, the most recent correspondence being today.

Honestly can't believe it takes 6 months to forward the recommendation.

It sounds like your case is before the DDA. I would not be surprised if you hear something in the next couple of months. But even then it will take a couple more months for the paperwork to hit all the relevant offices.

Welcome to the forum! I know for me waiting was the hardest part. I have a thread on my timeline in the forum. If my memory serves, the PDBR sent mine to the Navy in June of last year, she confirmed receipt sometime in the September/October window. I did not get my letter of retirement from the Navy until the beginning of February this year, and I am still waiting on DFAS. I say all of this to say, that was before all of the insanity that is 2020. With people working from home, (which I suspect the Navy Yard did for months) it may have had significant delays in an already lengthy process. Hang in there, and if you haven't heard anything after the July 4th Holiday, reach out to her again to see if there are any updates. If you have any specific questions on how the post letter stuff goes for the Navy please ask, I will try and help in any way I can.

I am Navy and was med-discharged in 2008. I submitted in Fall of 2017 after getting the DoD notice.
I largely forgot about the process and received an email on 2/13/2019 saying that relevant records were complete.
In August 2019, I was curious and reached out and immediately received a reply saying that "our recommendation has been forwarded to the Navy for Final determination."
As of today 6/17/20, I have not received any update or anything. It seems the trail to my DDA points of contact are largely dead.

Any other Navy folks take this long? Just curious?

Hi all. Following up to see if anyone has moved at all with the Navy DDA? This process began in 2017, with my case meeting the PDRB board in January of this year. I have been in touch with the board and they asked me to wait another 60 days, which I have, and reply to them if i have not heard anything. I am still waiting on a response from them. Ms Jones has not been able to provide any status at all.

Just looking for some closure here.

Welcome to the forum! I am sorry and I know how agonizing the wait can be. Have you emailed ann.jones@navy.mil to verify the Navy has received the PDBR recommendation? I know in my case, the PDBR insisted they had sent it, but the Navy had not received it. If memory serves, it had to do with Sharepoint access permissions. I know its not much, but its worth the ask. If they have received it, the current wait time seems drastically impacted by 2020. Hang in there.

My recent experience with Mrs. Jones is she is not replying. I reached back out to the board directly as my initial response from them was to give the DDA another 90 days. Once elapsed, I pinged them to be met with "Please wait another 120 days". They did add that the Navy and Army both have a backlog of cases from 2017 they are working through. I have to say it is frustrating that my case was heard at the board in January of 2020 and to date, I have heard nothing else.

Hello everyone. I recently received my letter from the Navy that they have accepted the recommendation from the PDBR and will be updating my records to reflect this. It says I will be notified when changes are complete.
My Timeline is as follows:
DD294 submitted 9/25/2019
PDBR Recommendation sent to Navy 3/23/2020
Navy sent letter to notify me 10/12/2020
