Has anyone else been keeping up with the latest SSDI news?

Word is the SSDI fund will run dry by the end of 2016 because they are paying out more in benefits than it actually brings in per year. Word is benefits could be cut drastically or even be suspended.

This is concerning to me as a recipient. Anyone have any thoughts or relevant info on this? Its not being talked about much in the media which I find odd. If it were a dire situation, don't you think they'd be preparing folks for whats coming? And how could they be increasing it as they do each year if its about to run out?

What you are referring to may just be a political scare tactic. And, politicians love to us scare tactics to persuade voters.

Yep. I read SSDI is going to run out of money in the next year or so.

This issue will be a big deal for Congress to fix this year or next.

Since our Congress is now GOP majority, it will be interesting to see how this plays out as the party focus is on balancing the budget without tax increases.

I don't know how this can be fixed without cutting benefits unless there is a tax hike of some kind.

Sometimes I wish all the folks back in D.C. had to live for three months on SSDI - just so that they could be more grounded on what happens to everyday, working people who end up injured and unable to work and get tossed into SSDI.

For sure, this issue will be knocking on their door soon.
