Hello everyone. Just had my long awaited hearing on Dec 6, 2021. Lawyer did help place my case as, "Critical" so that it may be "Expedited" because I'm 100% PnT. (Although GOD knows how much good that really does).
Wondering if anyone knows how long it takes after a hearing to get a decision for soldiers that have requested their case to be expedited. Thanks in advance

Mine was expedited and took 5 months. i was approved first try.

Myasthenia Gravis. Autoimmune neuromuscular disease.

No hearing for me, just approved at first application.

I’m 100% P&T, i’m curious about applying for SSDI, I was medically retired (tdrl) for having an auto immune disorder, a form of inflammatory bowel disease called Ulcerative colitis. I am on biologics (remicade) every month. just curious if I should apply for SSDI.

The bar is pretty high for SSDI. Basically you will need to show that you can't work. If you believe you can't work due to your medical conditions then I would apply. A good way to find out if you have a good case for SSDI is to consult a SSDI private attorney. If they are willing to take your case then you have a shot at getting it. My wife is going through IDES and has applied for SSDI with the help of a private attorney. I always suggest getting help. A SSDI attorney only gets paid if you win your case and are approved SSDI.

It is important that you also have at least 40 quarters of working time to get your maximum SSDI amount monthy.I believe this equates to 10 years of working full time. Also the closer you are to 60 years of age.. the better your chances of getting SSDI. After 2 years of SSDI you also become Medicare eligible which is great... now you have more choices (Non VA) and options in your healthcare. I would recommend that you get both part A and pay for part B ( 145.00 monthly comes directly out of your SSDI check) and also to get a Medigap program.Blue Cross Bronze here in Mass is a good one... about 215 per month but no bills at all.... sometimes without the medi gap plans they nickel and dime you... you get bills all the time for $17 dollars here and 22 dollars there... every lab, visit etc etc. To me its worth having the medi gap plan. They also cover some emergencies out of the country. Some local psychologists are affiliated with Social Security directly. Seeing one of them can also improve your chances of winning your claim.

With Medicare and TriCare for Life, I rarely have anything to pay related to provider visits other than co-pays for medications through Express Scripts. Of course medications can be obtained without co-pays through military pharmacies.

In what state was all this? Did they pull all your records from VA ? Thx
Idaho. Was approved by the state disability determination services right off the bat. I had VA print all my records and mailed to them. Also they set up a medical exam which they then used as evidence.

Thx, based on stats Idaho is a good state for SSDI VA approval rating. I am Texas and is one of the difficult states. My last duty station was here and I was medically boarded out and forced to retire. Some 06 shut down my MEB and forced me to retire.
Thx again

First try before the hearing? Or first hearing
Any updates on your case? I am still waiting, it's been 5 months ( I am 100 p & t). Still seating at 57 % with DDS.
