SSDI for TBI AD... Should I apply?

I'm not really getting my hopes up for an approval. I was just approved for SCAADL so that is helping. I had applied for SSDI before knowing it could take two years to get approved.

NDBraveheart84- what state did you apply in? I'm in MD. They are very familiar with the Wounded Warrior Program and military applicants here.

Notre Dame, Indiana :D ... I don't think your claim will take two years... but I'm an optimist;)

So it's been more than a week since the case manager told me to expect a decision as early as the next day. I still haven't heard anything and my online profile hasn't changed at all.
So I called my case manager this morning to tell him about my diagnosis last week of obstructive sleep apnea. He pulled up my file and told me it is at QA in Seattle. He also told me that he thinks it will get through without the sleep apnea, but to call him back Friday and he should have more information then.
So, any thoughts on this?

I called my case worker back this morning. He told me my case is still in QA. He told me it was sent to QA on the 17th, and should be back anytime now. I asked him if it was a good thing or a bad thing. He told me that I should be ok, they just make sure that they made the correct decision. Then he told me that they recommended I be approved and asked me to call him back the middle of next week. To be honest, I'm very surprised they recommended approval on my initial application. I was expecting to go through all the appeals.

Keep in mind that Federal Holidays throw everything off a little, just stay positive... I'm praying for positive results for you.

APPROVED!

I checked my online profile today and it says that I am receiving SSDI! So I was approved on initial application with no CE's while still on active duty. I am totally surprised. I haven't gotten the award letter yet, but I can print a Benefit Verification Letter showing my monthly amount and the amount of back pay. Such a relief to not have to go though the big fight.

Congratulations! :) No worries, it's all good!

If I may ask, where did you go to print a Benefit Verification Letter showing your monthly amount and the amount of back pay?

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Congratulations! :)

There is a link right when I log into the my social security website. In the Benefit & Payment section, the link says "Get a Benefit Verification Letter". It opens up you letter to let you print or save. It also lets you customize your letter, showing just current and past benefit amounts, types of benefits, and date of birth.
