I have been on SSDI now for 6 years for anxiety/depression/migraine issues. 3 years ago SS sent me a full medical review which I filled out and got all the necessary documents and sent off. I was reproved and that was that. Fast forward 3 years and this week I got a letter from SS. They are asking me to fill out this 2 page disability update report. Why are they asking for this report and not a full medical review? I was actually expecting the full medical review. Just curious if anyone has dealt with this.
Here the doctor does not solve anything, only provides information to the institution that is considering the case of a potential disabled person. It takes five to six months before a person hears about the decision whether he has received a disability or not. If it is refused, then it is necessary to hire a lawyer. Basically In a nutshell, a computer will read your form and 95% of the time it will be approved. The other 5% get further scrutiny and sent a “long form” requiring more info because they left something blank, said they were working or thier doctor said they could work, or their condition was “better”…. As long as you have dates for your most recent appointments, your condition is getting worse, and you’re not working, and you don’t screw up filling in the bubbles, you won’t have a problem. This will happen every 3 years until you hit age 63 or so, you won’t get one after age 65.

I found it useful, so I wanted to share my recent experience. I have been on disability since '03 for osteoarthritis, determined disabled as of 2001. I got my most recent Disability Update Report the first week of October 2022. Before this report, my last one was Oct. 2011. I did not send in the paper copy, I only used the online form this time. I answered all the questions with no flag responses and only listed one appt. in question 5, as my ANNUAL CHECKUP (which was spring '22). My report period was 10/20-10/22. I did not add comments and did not include attachments. I received the form letter that basically says you're deferred 7 weeks plus a few days after submitting. I assume it was a computer deferral and never saw human eyes. Because of covid I didnt see doctors for 2 years. Im glad I had my physical in 22' or I would have had zero appt. in the report period. My parting advice to all, is to make sure you at the very least have a yearly physical with your primary dr. to have something for question 5.

Alright brother the 2 page report is alot hetter than the full medical review, the 2 page report shows that you conditon will not likely improve. Its better to get the 2 page one instead of 10 page, how ever if you answer certain questions on a 2 page it will be flagged and they will send you a 10 page fmr
when I was part of the ssdfacts forum I was told that 5% of all shorts are referred to long forms to keep accuracy within system. not sure what other things are considered like length on disability age or if you are working under sga

Anyone know about for those who they expect to improve? My wife's ALJ decision said they expect her to improve and to do a CDR at 2 years.
That in itself is a bit nuts. Nothing has worked and there aren't many new treatments coming to the market. She had chronic migraines that leave her bedridden 10+ days a month. I am a bit paranoid because of how hard it was to get the approval. Don't want her to lose her Medicare if she isn't better and still can't work.

was she approved for migraine\headache? what is her age or range and is she actively on meds and seeing a doc for this. ssa will review you irregardless if its a short review it will ask basic questions mostly answered with y or n. if long form that is about same as when applying but difference is they need to prove you are no longer disabled vs you are

curious what your age is? I too had a short cdr in oct and got deferral in december. mine was due in 2020 but came at 5y mark. my nect cdr states 3+ with date of 2025 but not sure if the + gives some leadway.
It's not me but my wife. She is 38 years old. Pretty sure the cause is exposure to burn pits in Iraq. She has tried everything for treatment so far and nothing has helped. I was expecting the CDR timeframe to be 3 years since its possible she could improve. There are new treatments that come out for migraines but none so far have worked for her.

does she see a neuroogist. 38 is a tough age as she will likely be reviewed regularly. its almost a guarantee of a long form early on then shorts after. the SSA is backlogged so they may or may not be on time with set diary dates

Yeah. She sees a neurologist and regular doc and ENT due to sinus disease too. She was just awarded SSDI with her first payment last month so we have time to get a routine. We are moving so she hasn't seen a new neurologist in a while due to the backlog where we are at. It looks like the SSA doesn't look back more than 12 months during the CDR so as long as she starts to see her docs quarterly/semi annually/annually depending on the doctor and keeps doing her daily journals and headache calendar she should continue to be on SSDI.
Wish she found something that works because she would be happy to be off SSDI due to not qualifying for it. Since most people don't see her with the migraines since she is stuck in bed there isn't much that is seen. So she is keeping a daily diary and headache calendar and going to her docs. Its not fun being her but trying to do our best and also ensure she keeps her SSDI benefits. It just sucks because on her good days or hours in a day where she can do something she is working on documentation instead of enjoying life.
i understand that completely. may migraine meds are very very expensive and terrible side effects/ others only help some after an attack/ I deal with a neurologist I see 2 yr at this point but its getting frustrated as they want you to constantly vhage meds depending on what the pharmacy sales rep brings them that month,
